Paro airport takeoff flight to Kathmandu with breathtaking views of the Himalayas
Makalu Cho Oyu Lhotse and Everest peaks
🌏 www.curlynomad.com 🌏
#curlynomad
Take-off from Paro airport, Bhutan
The plane has to ascend quickly and take sharp turns, with the mountains all around. The passengers feel as though the wings are touching the mountain peaks.
Some of the world's most extreme takeoffs and landings occur here.
The airport is 6 km far from Paro, in a deep valley on the bank of the river Paro Chhu. With surrounding peaks as high as 5,500 m, it is considered one of the world's most challenging airports, and fewer than two dozen pilots are certified to land at the airport.
Flights to and from Paro are allowed under visual meteorological conditions only and are restricted to daylight hours from sunrise to sunset. Landing is allowed only during daylight, the
Landing is allowed only during the day- the runway is not even in clear vision of the pilot and requires the airplane to be maneuvered a steep 45 degrees before drastically dropping onto the runway 🌏 www.curlynomad.com 🌏

I have seen these mountain ranges while flying from Kolkata to Bagdogra route in India. Right around 20-30 minutes beofre landing on the left hand side you you get to see them. provided the sky is clear and Blue. That view is far away view though..with good smartphone camera zoom it can be looked at properly ...You can see the Kanchenjunga, Everest and Lhotse. However, in this route on your video, the Himalayas are far more closer in terms of visibility. A stunning footage indeed.

How can it take months to get to the peak 😳
@al8652
@al8652 3 года назад
@@omwu1307 It takes about 10 days just to get to Base Camp from Lukla as you constantly ascend and descend to adjust to the altitude. Climbers then usually wait a minimum of two weeks at Base Camp to adjust to the altitude. There are four camps that climbers stay at along the route to the summit (Nepal side), and it requires climbers to climb up to the camps and descend back down to sleep and adjust to the altitude. Sometimes people have to wait in their tents at each camp due to traffic on the mountain or the deadly weather. It's all about timing to get up the mountain safely while avoiding harsh weather and traffic. You also have to prepare your body as you travel above the Death Zone and to avoid HAPE or HACE due to ascending too quickly (inflammation of the brain).

You're obviously science minded because you are exactly correct. The indicated airspeed read in the cockpit accounts for air density changes between sea level and the flight levels. He needed a greater true airspeed to make up for much less dense air at this higher runway elevation.
