Paul I'm so happy you didn't trash the kit, like I said when I first saw your channel, I'm new to all this at 61 years old and the knowledge you share has helped me so much. I'm really struggling with the painting process, I bought me a airbrush, but I'm using paint cans on my kits at the moment so I can learn how to put the best paint job on my kits that I can. I really love your kits when you finish them they come out so beautiful, if you could give me some advice on how to start out using my airbrush I really would appreciate it. Thank You for really making the muscle cars look so great, it brings back a lot of memories from my youth.

While working with bare metal stuff I found it was helpful to secure painting coat with masking tape (placed side by side with foil layer and slightly overlapping it). In this case if your blade will go in wrong direction the paint surface will be secured by the masking tape and there will be no "cuts". I even used double masking tape layer, it definitely withstands accidental cuts. Nice video, thanks!

Love the '70 Dodge Super Bee almost as much as the '68 Dodge Charger.... Looks phenomenal, as always! 😍😎👍🏻👌🏻👏🏻🥇🏆 Mopar had the craziest colours back in the day! You need a Plymouth next, in lime or pink! 😉😆😂

Wouldn't be an AMT build without a ton of challenges. Great saves buddy. I'm getting fed up with bare metal foil to be honest. It's more hassle now than it's worth. I'm trying to find a good alternative. Aluminum AC tape is too sticky and tears up paint. Hasegawa's product is expensive, you get half the product, and it doesn't conform as nicely as BMF. But at least it sticks and stays put. Color looks absolutely magnificent. My worst calamity. I repaired my compressor. when I did I used a silicone sealant. The next time I used it when the compressor warmed up the sealant liquified and mixed with the air and went all over the Porsche 928 S4. I didn't see it until I clear coated and the fisheyes covered every single part I sprayed. I had to replace the compressor, the hose, AND the model. buy all new paint, and put my Apex through a rather brutal lacquer bath, and replaced the entire air valve assembly.

Vary good idea with the photo-etch and the decal came out spot on you would never know that it wasn't from the kit color cant be beat .

Absolutely love this build. The paint is amazing. I had a spray can malfunction on me. It was red of course. Now my floor still looks like a crime scene. Lol

Superb colour. Impressed with your skill's. Well done to Alan for the home made Super Bee decals. Good call on needle size for the 2K. Calamities, Glue on my finger without realising and touched the windscreen on a 2008 Dodge Challenger build. And dropped the glass for a Nissan Skyline R34 build, went to catch it and cracked it.

Also the patience and passion that you have :) I would like to askcolleges like Alan from on the bench do a complete video tutorial from A to Z, on how to do step by step create water decals, since we all struggle from time to time when they get old and you don't find them anywhere or when you prefer to do some custom ones..

Glad to see you pushed through the issues...happens to all of us. Worst calamity was wrecking the window panel lines on a Celica GT model. I absolutely wrecked the lines with a scriber.

Nice purple :) Biggest screw up i've made (so far!) was just last weekend; dropped the monocoque of my Tamiya 1:20 Mika Salo Tyrrell 023 build - smashed the left sidepod off and broke the decals around the join. The build had been going really well to that point.

Looks fantastic Paul, and possibly the best colour these cars came in. Nice to see you overcome the issues, they're always a challenge these older AMT kits but they have some fantastic subjects. My biggest modelling disaster... Involves an AMT model actually. I was building a 92 Chevy SS454 truck a pretty rare kit these days, the black paint was some of the best I had ever laid down. On final assembly I had the bottle of Tamiya extra thin to hand..... Didn't realise I hadn't screws the cap on tight and picked the bottle up by the cap only for the bottle to fall straight into the bed of the pickup.... A whole bottle of extra thin you can imagine the mess and the swearing!!x melted the paint and the plastic!. But I did manage to get a new pickup bed and build the model in the end.

I bought a brand new large cutting mat for my work area...knocked over Tamiya thin bottle, which spilled and the glue totally destroyed and curled the top layer of the mat. Now I have a 6" hole there. Grrrr

Very beautifull color and clear coat. Well, boo boo, I was already about to finish after hard hard work an Italeri P51 in metal finish that looked very nice, While holding the model high in front of my eyes looking close at a detail I droped the model and it hit the floor knocking some bits off but....when I stood up from the chair to pick it up I stumbled and steped on the model crushing it to beyond repair, I was so so so sad I almost cried. But now I lough at it.

Excellent video and great colour. Watching you deal with mistakes and acknowleding them real helps me. Biggest mistake? So many but recently runs in the clear coat. You and Simon gave me good advice last week on the live stream and a 0.2mm Apex conversion set was ordered from UMP yesterday for my clear coats. Philip

I’ve had two colossal cock ups when I first restarted modelling, I use Halfords clear lacquer spray and ruined and paint job and did a aoshima mclaren f1 and just sprayed gloss black on the body unprepared, though it looked good, used tamiya clear in a can on and the whole paint job ran I was gutted, tried to strip the body and I soaked it in isopropyl alcohol and melted the body. I have to say tho from watching your videos it improved my modelling a 1000%

Build looks amazing Paul that color pops. Glad I have that color in my stash for a future build. My worse mistake or accident I should say is I put last coat of 2K clear on went to put the body under my container to protect it and hit the container and left a big mark in the clear destroying it.

Wow, it was worth the effort and calamity. My worst calamity ever, hard to choose when there is so many. If I had to choose, it would be a 1:72 Airfix B-29 from years ago. I hadn't built many big bombers and was so excited about this one. When I brush painted it in humbrol silver, it needed to cure for weeks. Old humbrol silver never really cured. So I tried to gloss clear coat it with a brush and enamel gloss. It just dragged silver flakes all over the black leading edges, clear parts everything. Was gutted.

i also spray Gravity 2K with a .02 needle. But....on my final coat I add 10% more reducer and it lays down fantastic. You are very right though, it is a fine line between too heavy and not enough. Not so bad in a big car like this. But fml be careful on a honda civic lol I feel your frustration with BMF. They did say they were having problems with their supplier atm.

I have the same kit in my stash and AMT kits can be a challenge but where are you going to get a 70 Super Bee. The Coronet is built on a Chrysler B body platform that is where Super Bee came from. I used the wrong clear coat on a paint job and it cracked. Remember small mistakes are not the end of the world. All my builds have some. It is supposed to be a fun hobby. Love the paint I want to see how you mask of the chrome bumper for the body color in the middle.

Try gunze sangyo white putty. No shrinkage fast drying.

Was beginning to think this wasn't a video build, my worst calamity was doing the honda Rc213v body work with rattle cans for the fluro paint and spilling thinner all over the bike, ending up getting a complete new kit and super detail set to redo the whole lot and has become a long term project should be finished by xmas 202?

Worst mistake, built a F 14 and didn't realize I had the wing in up side down until I was putting the decals on it.

Cracked the glass on my Tamyia Mitsubishi Evo V kit applying the mask - liertally the first thing i did on the kit..... v=never opened the box again

Lovely colour that! What's happening with the Evo 6? As for my worse calamity... After waiting about 10 years to finish my Alfa 155 v6TI I put too much thinner in my clear coat and ruined the kit totally. Not built a model since 😞
