Breaking horses is born out of a typical male attitude that an animal needs it's spirit breaking by rough domination into.submission to except humans and although some do better kinder.techniques these days like yourselves do with your horses . Starting and backing horses is a more accurate term to get horses to except being groomed and ridden and harnessed for carriage and cart driving , you do so great with your horses it shows as Frieda and Eefje has good nature and learn to be comfortable quickly with new experiences they will excel in all the equine disciplines especially Freida a real show mare.🐎

Watch Monty Roberts it’s amazing how he trains horses, he’s very gentle, his father trained the “old” way and he decided to be different and he got much better results. Watch the 3 part video when he said he wanted to capture and break a wild horse in 3 days and he did it. Amazing. I hope I explained that correctly it’s been a while since I’ve watched it.

As I've said before, a horse lover having never owned but always dreamed, I used to ride with a friend on her horses...as you rub them down, braid and pat approval, I am reminded of the feel of the horse hair on my hand, their breath on my neck as I walk her back to the stall, the smell of a horse and that connection to this majestic creature is something I will never forget as long as I live...thanks for these vlogs, beautiful...
A good way of training, a little at a time, gentle repetition and affectionate praise as the horses learn. Much less traumatic than seeing how wild rodeo type horses are broken. Every animal and child in this world deserves to learn this way and develop trust and companionship with caring people. Reminds me of my 3rd grade teacher, who practiced firm but caring teaching and always made her students feel important and special and made learning enjoyable, even if we weren't perfect.
I love how quiet and respectful your hands are with the horses. No wonder they are so calm and willing to try something new. Not once did I hear a raised voice either. I love the small step approach in letting them get used to things. When the horse bolted towards the arena I love how you simply just turned the horse around and didn't raise your voice. You gave the horse time to process what was happening and then to think it through.
They certainly respond so well to your way of training and grooming. It’s enjoyable to watch their progress from first being tied up in the stall for 5 or 10 minutes when quite young, to this and more!
She did so well. Now I see why you always went to the meadow when they were grazing and you would go pet them all even the babies. You built their trust. Which is showing now how important that was.
I think this is pretty big testament to how well dispositioned Friesians can be. Not all horses are the same and all breeds have their quirks, but watching these guys take this with pretty calm demeanors was a treat. I've seen horses flip over having a saddle pad placed on their backs even though they have worn and are familiar with blankets. I've also seen a Clydesdale stand quietly munching on treats while being groomed and then saddled for the first time. Really some breeds are just amazing with how quiet and calm they can be. All horses can flip and get scared but its really amazing how some breeds stand out for how quiet they usually are.
We always see very well behaved and cooperative horses in the videos. Much thoughtful work had to be invested before. I love to see how patient and respectful they're treated when learning. 😊

I think it’s great the level of care you have for training the horses. I have witnessed not so great and I was very disturbed by what I saw from a distance. So glad to see this. If I think an animal is being hurt I just go ballistic!! This is so good to see. ♥️♥️♥️

I can certainly understand, my surgeries/procedures started as a little girl around 3-4 & I can relate to being stuck in bed not able to move, it’s NOT fun! I love watching you handle and train these well bred Friesian horses from foaling to saddle. Their trust and confidence in you is wonderful to see! I trained thoroghbred race horses for twenty years and always tried to get to know each individual and train each according to their strengths. I envy your relationship with each of these beautiful horses!

I don't know what I do without you and your beautiful horses, you make my day ,everyday. My husband is dying of two disease's. So I am home with him retired too. I use to have horses most of my life, now no more , but now I do with you and your entire horse families, I just want you to know that I understand can appreciate all of you and I am very knowledgeable about horses. I owned a Quarter Horse his name was Tad- bit- grander, he had "doc-Bar blood lines from the original , Quarter Horse "doc bar" When I bought him he was neglected but I brought him back. 3 years old is just a huge toddler, but these ones have such good well bred temperaments that there is no toddler tantrums. The humans give them time to think in their learning process, nothing is rushed, and the horses accept willingly because it is all done with kindness and respect.
I noticed that the horses have their hay rations outside of their stall, the doors are lower so the horses can "graze" the hay. In England horses usually have a hay net hung up inside their stable. I think maybe this outside the front door method should be adopted over here, at a glance you can see how much hay your horse has got through, without having to stick your head in to look inside the stall, which young and nervous horses are not used to. Also, haynets can be a danger to a horse if it manages to get it unhooked from the wall, possibly getting a hoof caught in it and getting tangled up, which would be terrifying for a young prey animal thinking it had one of its legs caught. Also, if your horse had stopped munching the hay, and the pile was untouched for a couple of hours I would be going to check horse for possible colic. Loved the mini door for the little Shetland to reach.
Thank you for showing us how you continue to train your horses. They are not only beautiful, but also have good dispositions. You all are also very calm with them and that shows. This was very interesting.
Actually, after watching these videos for a long time now, I see that Yvonne trains the horses from the start. She holds her hand out when they are just one or two days old to get them used to being friends. When they are a little older I see them with halters in the pasture. They are constantly gently handled. This is all part of training a horse. The more structured training starts around 3 years old, which is the right time to do so.

Beautiful Eefje, that beautiful, gorgeous smart girl got such an unfair turn in the two inspection events. The first the groom held her head down too low and the single judge was inept, the second she had to preform in pouring rain. Do beautiful with terrific breeding she should be Star Kroon by now. I love her and miss her. Best of luck to her new owner.

I always learn so much from this channel. I always thought that lessons like tying were taught much earlier than 3. I guess it depends on the trainer and the mental maturity of the horse as everyone is different.

Thank you for posting this wonderful video! I am reminded of watching my grandfather break and train his horse named Queenie! I used to watch him in the field (from a short distance) when I was very young.
@@LindaEll89 yes he was friendly towards all of his horses, but firm, she always tried to get her own way, meaning go where she wanted to go. I always felt safe on her though. ☺️🇺🇸
