In this build series Keith shows what installing a polebarn intails. Postframe buildings are very simple and cost effective to build. I used 2 diffent drones, gopro hero 9 and sony a7iii for video series. love to hear your feedback

Goodness, the time it takes to make sure it's perfectly squared. Informative! Thanks so much for the how-to! Enjoyed the time-lapse in the middle. I'm tired just thinking about the hard work y'all are doing.

Ya, as soon as something gets a little off it make it so hard to make things come out perfectly in the end....Not all the lines in the metal will line up perfectly. Thanks for the video feedback! Love hearing what you like seeing cause sometimes not sure what all to include?? Drone shots, GoPro time-lapses or handheld:):)

My cousin is building us a 30x50x12 with a lean to after ours blew down in some bad wind earlier this year. Lasted since the mid 80’s. After seeing how this one is coming together I don’t think I would hesitate to build one. The hardest part in my eyes is getting the posts square and straight. It seems like it comes right together after that. Couple hours worth of work and it’s ready for metal. Should be done by the end of the week

As fast as you put that together, should take you 5 minutes to put the roof on for Good Simple Living!

It’s amazing how fast we can put roofs on with the “time-lapse” technique

Title says 24X40. 40ft not 48'. But bigger is better!

Great video, might I suggest some microphones. The audio was difficult at times. Great job

What size nails do you use to fasten the purlins to the posts?

Can you explain how one bag of premix can make an adequate footing?
@KoverageContractors
@KoverageContractors 3 года назад
Good question! First off I would love to hear your method of calculating your footer size!! There are a lot of factors that determine footer size for a pole barn: roof span, pole spacing, roof loading , soil and wind shear are a few. This soil was solid and then after digging down about 18” it became very rocky! And soil, even more solid. If you look at soil bearing charts you will see this is more than adequate.

@@KoverageContractors IBC requires all concrete footings to be a minimum of six inches thick. 50 sacks of 80# sackrete make a cubic yard, therefore a bag will make 0.54 cubic feet of concrete. A 14" diameter concrete footing would be .5833^2 (radius squared) x 3.14 (pi) x 0.5 (1/2 foot thick) = 0.534 cubic feet of concrete. This footing will cover 1.068 square feet of area. Class 3 soils are about as stiff as a skid loader auger will dig and give 3000 psf bearing capacity (most sites are 1500 or 2000 psf soils). 3000 psf x 1.068 = 3205# capacity. With a minimal roof load of 20/5/5 each pad could support up to 106.8 sft of roof area (with columns every 8' this would be peak to end of overhang of 13.35'). So assuming this fairly stiff soil 24' span with 12" overhangs would be right at the limit. In most soils, this would be inadequate.

Love your details and gave me some insight. Thanks. You are right, it is inadequate "in regards" to the IBC. Clearly you have a lot of experience in building. What else did you notice that we could improve on? Thanks for your feedback.

Don't know why, but the music is nice and loud, but you need better recording of your narration...Did you listen to and understand it? I didn't. Either turn closed captions on or get closer to the mike. Thought I was really going to learn something here...disappointed.

So, I just went back and listened to everything on multiple devices. I agree, I made mistake of making the music a few Decibels higher than the narration. That being said I could still understand everything.

@@KoverageContractors Thanks for getting back to me. It probably is easier for you because you already know what you are explaining. My tablet doesn't have the best audio, either. I keep it at max volume most of the time. Even tho it's distracting from the actual viewing of the video, sometimes I have to use the cc option, but this wasn't available in this video.

@@paulmonk7820 Thanks for your feedback. this helps me improve the videos. I will go see about adding the captions feature. I want to improve the my Audio, thanks so much.

I loved the info i could glean from this,, thumbs up overall. Thank you..... but!! Music is a huge distraction in educational videos, if not an annoyance! Listening with headphones and it's a constant assault on my ears. I wish you would leave the music out OMG no! Not liking it! Fill in the empty space if you must but with random interesting info? Like what is that material handler? What else have you used? Any info about building or the weather but the music is killing this.
