This is the way a mother should receive her children telling her they were hurt by her actions. She’s didn’t make excuses, she told her truth, & took full accountability.

Yes we do realize that being raised in a different home/environment was best, but it does not erase the pain, questions, trauma. There is a plethora of things we deal with and is easily triggered by when we've lived through this level of abandonment. I have mixed emotions … I feel like although she feels abandoned , she still lived a better life with her adopted mother than what she would have ever lived with her biological mother . I think she’s not trying to understand that although it’s awful what happened to her , the mom was deep in drugs ! DEEP! The most traumatic could have happened to her . @@prettybrowneyes8565 I don’t understand how the truth is a crutch. I’m in med school and don’t mind admitting at all I could have made better choices. Life is objective in many instances and not subjective. People need to quit making excuses and admit having several kids, that’s on the man and woman, and not being prepared to give them stability, spirituality and connection isn’t healthy! It’s one thing to raise kids and another to parent them. My mother was an addict and didn’t allow us to be abused either, but her toxic decisions and lack of accountability affected us..so it does make a difference. Addiction is real. This woman is only 9 mos sober, which means she is still vulnerable. The mother does not have the capability or capacity to give her what she wants. The mother/daughter relationship has sailed. Woman to Woman they need to heal, build, forgive and grow. Thank God the stranger didn't expose her to the addicted lifestyle of her parents because the outcome would have been different. Every Saint has a past and every Sinner has a future.

I feel like she’s so angry it’s clouding her judgment. Let’s not forget that your mother was HEAVILY addicted to hard core drugs. That’s not easy. She’s been on them since she was a little girl. Over 20 years of abusing drugs. So she made a decision she thought was best instead of getting high and not being able to provide and protect. As a mother I totally agree. It’s messed up but it’s time to get a understanding not be angry and yelling why not give me to a family member. Shidd she gave her to someone she trusted and she knew. Not a total stranger.

Right now, I don't think that there is anything that anyone could say that will be okay with Lex because she's equating being in close proximity to Chrissy or being placed with relatives with having it "good" - when it actually sounds like she is the one who had it good because she was in a loving and caring home. I do understand and empathize with Lex's feelings of abandonment, yet I think she's too caught up in her own pain to realize that ALL 16 of them were abandoned. Their mom didn't have custody of any of them & while they may have been close to her in geographical location terms, the emotional distance and abandonment were still there. Just because they may have been with family members doesn't mean they had a good life - they could have been mistreated, molested, malnourished, impoverished, or have had bad things happen to them. I feel that Marquita has made peace and forgiven their mom - not so the mom can feel better, but so she can move forward in her life. Once Lex realizes that holding onto that pain and anger will kill you inside, she may be able to start the healing. I hope Karamo is able to help them get the therapy they need to build a relationship.

I concur! She equates being with family as living a better life, because she's lived a good life she doesn't know how much worse it could have been. She clearly needs therapy, and she needs to sit down with some of her siblings, maybe that would give her the wake up call that she needs.

I don’t know. This is really hard for Lex because people are looking to her to essentially be the “bigger person” since her mom is seemingly helpless. People are missing the point. Her mom gave her away to strangers which was different than what she did with her other children. 9 months clean is commendable. It is. I’m so happy for mom. But she spent Lex’s entire life on drugs- over 27 years of drug usage. Mom has no idea the true impact her actions made on her daughter and other children. For all your other siblings to be in the homes of family members and you’re the only one who was given to a “friend” it hurts. She just wants to understand why she wasn’t “worthy” of being with family. Marquita is saying that we have all suffered and that even if we were together you would’ve been in a much worse situation. Maybe Lex and Marquita understand each other on the surface level, but it isn’t registering emotionally. Lex wanted to feel community. Marquita is saying what community, there isn’t one. It’s kind of a catch 22 and they both struggle to see the others viewpoint.
