I have just been using polyrhythm when I have a a song in 3/4 I pull out the melody and do it in 3/4 over 4/4 drum tracks and arpeggiations.

I'm just starting to mess with the drums on the Nautilus. Really want to process some of the drums on this to turn into drum racks on Ableton. The more I get into sound design on the Nautilus the more I love it. I just posted a video of one of my custom Rhodes programs that I started from scratch. Check it out if you have time! Thanks for the video man this is a big help to understanding the drum architecture.

I may have to address this via video. I don't think there is a clear cut answer.

I'm trying to figure out how to get my drum tracks and arpeggiations in 3/4. I realize I can do it in the step sequencer. I don't understand why there is arpeggiation a and b options that are called 3/4off and 4/4 off because obviously if the arpeggiator is off it doesn't need to have a time signature yeah I fooled around with it to see if there was some way to use those options to change the time signature. I noticed in sequencer mode there's the metronome and it's always 4/4. I've been able to change it and despite going through all the video tutorials and the PDF tutorials and contacting Korg technical assistance I have gotten no answers. You had answered another question for me I was hoping you could help me with this one thank you.

You contacted Korg specifically about getting the arps to function in 3/4? What did they say? I'm trying to unwrap your entire question. If you put the seq in 3/4 and play your drum tracks (manually) then they should be in 3/4. What do you mean by 3/4 off and 4/4 off? I need to look back at that page specifically.

Could you please explain how to adjust my drum tracks and arpeggiations 3/4? I know I can use the step sequencer to do it. I would really like to adjust the arpeggiations and the preset drum tracks. I'm rather perplexed about the arpeggiator A&b settings that are labeled off they have the time signature either 3/4 or 4/4. This makes absolutely no sense to me because if the arpeggiators off there's no time signature and I played around with it and it seems like I'm unable to figure it out I've been through the video manuals I've been through the PDFs I've contacted Korg and I cannot find an explanation. In the past you answered one of my questions I'm hoping you can help me with this thank you.

It was a great video. I have already made 5 of my own drum kits from classic drum machine samples. These are made from samples of retro drum machines. LinnDrum, Oberheim DMX, E-MU Drumulator, SP-12 and Fairlight CMI3 Drum kit. The location of each drum pattern has been copied to the right place, so the kick, snare, hihat, ride, tom, crash, etc. are in their place. There's only one thing I don't know, I'd like help with that. I added some Drum loops and effects to the Drum kit. The problem is that if I add release to the hihat and crash samples, it affects the loop and the effects as well. Is it possible to somehow set it so that certain keys are not affected? I would like to add the Drum loop to individual keys in such a way that when I release the key, the loop will also be silent, but if the release affects it, then this cannot be solved. I saw that Attack, Dacey settings are possible, but there is no Release. Is there any solution for this?

When you are creating the sampled loop part are you making programs using samples or making drum kits. They have different abilities at the programming level.

I mean, in the video starting at 10:33 I see there are 3 different tambourine samples on a key as each sample has its own touch sensitivity. Is this also possible with my own recorded guitar samples? for example if I play the E string 3 times in different ways and record it separately as a sample. And then assign it to a key, like in the video with the tambourine. I hope this makes some sense to you, sorry.
@JuliusDeBerryJr
@JuliusDeBerryJr Год назад
Oh I get what you are saying! Yes this is definitely possible. Of course. Same manner as you mentioned, and assign them to an osc. Then trigger them based on velocity. You can have a hard cutoff between velocity values. You can have a fade between them. You layer them. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi Julius, I am very satisfied with the Nautilus and more every time after watching your videos. The piece about the touch sensitivity of a key, can this function also be applied to recorded guitar samples? (different string movements per tone) I hope you understand my question 😳 Kind regards from the Netherlands.

Julius, Thank You, I have Korg M1 VST v2.3.2 installed with all the Programs, Combis, effects, OSC's, etc. as the original keyboard. It also has additional T-1 and MPC- Cards. What is the advantage of using this new M1 for Nautilus. Are all effects, OSC's and other parameters of the Korg M1 keyboard included?
@JuliusDeBerryJr
@JuliusDeBerryJr Год назад
Yes definitely. Synthesis via keyboard workstations has improved tremendously since the original keyboard. And yes, now bringing those samples and programs into the Nautilus, you have the ability to route them through the Nautilus effects system, layering them with sounds form the other 8 Nautilus engines and using the sequence and arpeggios to create unique sounds that may not have been possible with the original m1.

Thank you, Julius. Excellent video. Quick question, regarding using drum patterns in programs, is it possible to assign IFX to the drum kits using the drum kit effect option that enable you to assign effects to each instrument/channel of the drums? For example, reverb to drum, phaser to crash, etc. I only see the option to assign effects to the entire drum pattern. Thank you.
@JuliusDeBerryJr
@JuliusDeBerryJr Год назад
Yes, I believe so. But this is kinda involved though. If you give me a few days, I'll get a video up about it.
@JuliusDeBerryJr
@JuliusDeBerryJr Год назад
But just so you know, there is not enough IFX, to get each key. But each category within the kit. There should be. (Depending on what exactly you want on each instrument)

thank you for your reply, I can transfer the specially prepared wave format sounds in korg kronos, with nuatulis, e usb, i have been using roland integra 7 for 10 years, nuatulis just has great bass sounds, roland is better for making rap music, like, my opinion, you you are master you know better,nuatulis did not meet my expectations,for now,take care,FROM S ARABIA

I am trying to write a song for my girlfriends commercial of her new business she has started… I have this song, I have the patches or programs, but when I change the patch with my foot pedal, the drums stop, and when they start back up, it is different for each patch that I go to… I want to keep the drums going, and utilize the four of the scenes from one patch over the entire group of patches that I use there’s about 24 of those… How can I do that? It’s getting so frustrating on my new novelist that I just got a week or two ago.

You can't keep drums from one program going and switch to a new program... The drums are assigned to a program. So when you switch programs the drums are "switching" too... Even if you have the same drums in both programs. You can achieve something like this, but you need to use combi mode or sequencer mode to do it. Hope that helps. !

Why is Korg so complicated?
@JuliusDeBerryJr
@JuliusDeBerryJr Год назад
Why do you think they are? I don't really feel like they are... Just have to spend time with the system and get used to the interface. People used to think that Yamaha MOTIFs had the most complicated system... It was kinda understood that they did. I don't really find of them complicated. Intricate, yes. But not really complicated.
