thanks so much. I have searched for conclusion about 3-4 hours in google but I can't find the right answer until I found ur video in youtube. thanks so much Jacoby
You need a usb key with "PS3" folder made (capital) and inside it an "UPDATE" folder (Capitals). Usb key has to be FAT32 formated In that folder you install latest system update from playstation. Install new harddrive and before booting the pst insert the USB key with your stuff on it. PS3 will format your new harddrive : you dont actually need to format it.
This is taking a brand new hard drive and formating it. You can do the the same with an old one but you must format it in order to clear the memory on the drive
Ok I see the disk it has the simple volume greyed out. I saw the drive was not initialized so i initialized it and the simple volume opened up so I went through hit format and I get the error message Data Error (cyclic redundency check). Now thats all I can do. I unplugged the harddrive and plugged it back in. Its again not initialized so I try to initialize it bvut just get that same error now cant go any further.
um, you need an ADDITIONAL internal hard drive (NOT the one with your windows on it, dude) and some way to hook it up to your computer (the one WITH windows on it, dude) (I used a $12 case thats made to accept 2.5" laptop internal drives and plugs in to your computers USB) and then format the NEW internal hard drive. Got it?? :)
Very complicated process thats actually useless. Check on youtube, many youtubers explain hpw to do this. You DO NOT need to format the new hardrive before putting it in the ps3 at all.
