I was working, having this on another tab and listening you read the intro, and I was constantly like "wait what? did the CO really just say that? wow whoever wrote the script is funny af", had to check back on the vid only to realize you completely made those lines up in the moment 🤣So hilarious, what an amazing ability. The IRL naval triangle would be Destroyers (which were originally named Submarine Destroyers) beat Subs, Subs beat Cruisers, and Cruisers beat Destroyers (smaller surface ships). Cruisers and Battlecruisers were historically used as scouts and raiders against lightly-defended convoys who couldn't fight them but retained the speed to run from Battleships.
yeah I was really facepalming during that explanation. I mean It's Intelligent Systems's fault for getting it wrong in the first place. Many cruisers IRL did have at least some ASW capability, so it could sorta be overlooked, but having the triangle filled in with destroyers filling the exact opposite role as their IRL counterparts is just.... ugh
damn that strong seabear voice on Drake. Before: i always thought drake is more a little goofy and chilled character, because of the belly and this friendly grin. But after two lines of Deejus impression: i really felt the strong captain that fought all 7 seas^^ (i now love both types of drake in my head)

What an interesting new Mod, using what I think is the Dual Strike sprites for the Destroyers and Dreadnaughts I see. I might try this one for myself after I finish my current playthrough of Returns, which as you say is quite challenging, but its enjoyable. Its one to add to the list anyway.
What if they added properties that give 2000 per turn? This would provide extra incentive for players to send their armies to certain zones. Putting these bonus properties onto places like islands would thus help prompt more naval combat.

Ive always felt like AW naval combat is incomplete compared to its land based units counterpart. The Destroyer and Dreadnaught would really tie naval combat together. We have so many specialized boats but nothing that serves a general purpose. Allowing one to attack units adjacent to shoals would be an exellent addition. Years ago i said Destroyers should cost 10k, move 5 and have 5 ammo. Do base 70% to Black Boats. 50% to Destroyers, Cruisers, and Landers 20% to Subs, 15% to Battleships, 10% to Carriers Cannot attack Air units but can defend at 30% base retaliation damage toward Copters with AA guns. Base 30% to Infantry, Mechs 25% to Tanks, Anti Air, Artillery etc...
Maybe the devs based it off the fact IJN destroyers got wrecked by everything, including subs. Doesn't make any sense though since that's what they were made to do 😅

Im sorry but destroyers and dreadnaughts dont work like that. Destroyers are the Submarine hunters in real life, cruisers counter destroyers, battleships demolish cruisers. If i could make a rebalancing of sea units, i would make subs be just like stealths, they dealing okay-ish to ALL ships. Destroyers to hunt subs and dealing ok dmg to cruisers but nothing on dreadnaughts and BBs, cruisers being great at fighting subs, dds and cruisers, but dealing meh-ish samage to dreadnaughts and bbs, dreadnoughts having Less ammo, range, defense and moviment than bbs and bbs being the upgrade to dreadnoughts just like in real life.
