The single best change ReBoot Camp made was giving Black Storm a single animation for the whole map, instead of animating every single individual unit's hp changing, like in the original game. It made larger maps (like the factory mission) against Hawke a pain.
One nice detail is that when the country logos appear, there's a brief musical nod to each faction's leader: Orange Star: Nell's lifting synth Blue Moon: Olaf's sleigh bell Yellow - I mean Gold Comet: Kanbei's chanting Green Earth: Eagle's industrial guitar Black Hole: Sturm's electric guitar riff
@NecOwOArc Sonja: It's very simple, Father. Just a color, and a shape. The color is that of our flag, and the shape is whatever you want. Kanbei: hehe gold go brrr
Best part about adder is well A his va just gets the creepyness of adders design and personality to a t and the laugh he does after activating his Co powers is genius I love it so much
Voice actors: Adder: Griffin Burns Andy/Clone: Veronica Taylor Colin: Erika Harlacher-Stone Eagle: SungWon Cho Flak: SungWon Cho Hachi: Sean Chiplock Hawke: Adin Rudd Kanbei: Kaiji Tang Lash: Sarah Anne Williams Max: Arin Hanson Nell: Cristina Vee Valenzuela Olaf: Patrick Seitz Sensei: Joe Zieja Sonja: Cassandra Lee Morris Sturm: Craig Lee Thomas Sami: Jeannie Tirado Uncredited voices that appears in credits: Grit: Kyle McCarley Drake: E. Jason Liebrecht Jess: Rebeka Thomas
"In a test of skill, I'm unbeatable! It's just a shame that my strong units are also the weakest ones, combat-wise, in the game!" I know it likely would have been too much work, but it would have been nice if, when you use Olaf's Super Power during the 'Toy Box' mission, rather than grinning, he just looked absolutely pissed off.
Battle Copters looking to be my favorite units so far above Md Tanks, Tanks, and Rockets. That's what I'd make given the resources. Max, Andy, Colin, Sensei, Kanbei and Eagle especially could be my forte.
Curious that Green Earth's aircrafts uses A-10 Thunderbolt II, an air to ground aircraft, but as an air to air fighter. Even Yellow Comet uses A4M5 Zero, a propeller fighter, with difference with Orange Star's F-15C Eagle and Blue Moon's Mirage D (and as I know (could be wrong) changed into Sukhois SU-27 or SU-30SM)
i didn't like the "infantile" look of the game units and map at first but it has grew a bit on me, if anything i would have love they had designed two character portraits to have for the advanced wars 1 and 2, to have like something like this characters changed a bit with the time btw, even if its just a change in clothes
I think most of the fandom would like to disagree with you, if just for the sake that the more "mature" artstyle of Days of Ruin was met with extreme dislike. I agree on the other point though.
@@rheokalyke367 i knew something like this would come, im not meaning the complete other extreme as how AW Dark conflict that i dont dislike pesonaly, but what i mean is something more of a bit , i dont know really, a bit maybe a bit more anime'ish or chibi maybe. It's like the first time i saw it , it just reminded me a bit of those old youtube videos for kids with a lot of colors but i guess the new style grew on me as i dont mind it anymore
I saw a review saying that the look of the map and units is reminiscent of “a diorama you’d find at a hobby shop”. And you know, I kinda agree. It looks like those military dioramas that some people like to make.
Yeah advance wars had always this Childish look, Dual strike was evolving to be more of teens advance wars and Days of ruin took a more dark and grown up approach to the series.. I hope they all get remakes.
On 2:30 ? No. The opponent is Jess, from Green Earth, and that's their copter. It has to be a free match since they adopt the colour the map assigned for them, not the one for the faction/country.
His Japanese age is 12 in AW1 and both games make re-occurring jokes about how naive and dumb he is. At the end of the day, he's certainly not an adult and I don't see the difference between him being a teen vs. pre-teen when he's ultimately going to act like a kid either way.
@@bruh_moment2833 Nothing wrong with that. I can't say I'm the biggest fan of how young these commanding officers are. But I do admit that I always imagined Andy's voice as either pre-pubescent or just not touching Puberty. At least in AW1-AW2. Everyone clearly ages by Dual Strike to the point where Olaf has white hair (well in the Western versions. Japanese Olaf always had white hair since he's in his 60s and is meant to evoke Santa Clause).
Andy's voice DOES sound a bit too young, but then again he doesn't know what strategy or an airport is so it's fair Also I think their VA is Veronica Taylor so that's always a plus
Kite: ...Feel that? The winds are shifting...! *"PREVAILING WIND!!"* Terra: Never underestimate Nature! *"GAIA'S BOUNTY!!"* Sabre: Touché, my friend... But here's my counter-thrust! *"REGAL RIPOSTE!!"* Just my OC trio from White Nebula, a country based on Great Britain and Western Europe. Kite specializes in Air and Naval units, Terra's more powerful on natural terrain, and Sabre's counter-attacks hit like a freight-liner- often harder than you might expect.
Andy's voice is way too young... And Colin.. Why's he the stereotypical Japanese baseball kid? Thought the Blue Moon army was analogous to the Russian army..
People complain about the graphics and yes the overworld graphics can get confusing - but if they HADN'T changed it, people would still complain, because that's what gamer nerds do.
god why did this game have to suck, the music and art update of the COs is great but god damn the painfully long power animation on all units, the painfully tedious animations of the units taking as long as 2 attack animations of the OG game just makes the game feel like such a drag on top of a god awful 3D style especially for the infantry just made the game tank so badly in sales. Just upscale the sprites they were better in every way
The voice acting is so terrible. Seems like they re-used the same male voice actor for much of the male cast. The voices do not portray the characters personalities at all. Considering the lines aren't fully voice acted, the VA must have been an afterthought which is honestly a real shame
They called anime voice actors, didn't they? It's the worst dubbing the industry can offer. Gimme the Japanese dubbing. This is terrible, no intonation, no emotion... This is a Super Power, the time to turn the tables, or to put the last nail in the coffin.
@@Logans_Login Heresy! Have you ever compared the original Japanese anime dubbing with English anime localization dubbing? Or even English anime localization with the dubbing of American cartoons, or even Disney stuff? There is no comparison. At all. English anime localization is, simply put, terrible. But you gonna have to work really hard to find a single anime Japanese dubbing that is below acceptable. You don't need to know Japanese to feel it.
@@MrKhaos0001 I guess you never heard Black Lagoon or Hellsing Ultimate dub. Heck, I'd argue BL eng dub is a lot better than japanese original (except few meme cases).
@@Ctrekoz There may be one or another outliner, but I've tested many, and they were all terrible. Things that come from Disney, Nickelodeon... have far better dubbing than what we see in anime, and I'm surprised you'd prefer any English dubbing to the Japanese one, I guess it's because it's easier to just listen without reading subtitles, or because you grew up with that so your brain finds the Japanese dubbing strange.
@@MrKhaos0001 I watch shows, movies, and play games with any voicever, mostly original one, if it's good and has subtitles, even if I don't know the language voiced - simple. Some have equally good localizations, and sometimes localization is outright better than the original. Talented voice actors and producers can be behind any language. People need to be more open minded and stop being Japanese dub cultists, especially about anime focused outside Japanese culture, where English or other language is even more fitting. My native language is Russian, but I'm surely are not listening to any trash Russian anime dubs. My second language is English, and it doesn't prevents me from enjoying French, German, Japanese and other voiceovers. And to say it again - Black Lagoon Eng dub is the prime example of insanely good dub and fitting more to the setting than Japanese one, as well as the anime itself is amazing. Highly recommend unless you're too much of a softie moralist.
