This bag is pretty unique and i'm not totally sure there's a huge audience for it, but I love it. Do you see a use-case for it and what would you change about it?
if i buy then i'll use this for university books or to carry laptop or small stuff. i'd also love to carry this on a little trip, to put snacks, mobile charger, tablet, wifi, powerbank, camera etc. Because it's handy cute bag. One thing more, the fast tiktoki version is good for saving some time and enganging people but it removes the satisfying sound of hammering, beveling etc. But it's your choice ofcourse because i understand people don't watch lengthy videos. Thanks for considering my comment.
A great design as is. Perhaps consider offering the option of a sunken zipper closure in addition to the flap to help prevent small items from sliding out when the pack in on its side.
Man, your shots of Ogden Canyon always make me a little nostalgic! I would use this as a laptop/tablet bag, so an inner divider (or molded pocket) to protect the laptop from the rest of the stuff in the bag woks be my only suggestion. Beautiful work!
I really love the subtle heftiness of this bag and the simplicity of it at the same time. Its clean streamlined design makes it great for both the rough and tough of EDC but also a level of refinement for the more professional moments.
Good work! I sure like the color of that leather. I think a helpful upgrade would be buckles on the adjustable straps instead of conway buckles. Additionally, doubling up the inside back piece of the bag with a lighter weight leather might be helpful for keeping a laptop/books secure. Once again, good work!
Ouuuwiiee! I've been waiting for another backpack! I really love this one too, especially that golden color! The only suggestion would maybe make the closing mechanism something like a magnet so the user can open/close it really quickly. I would definitely use this as a school bag. As always, super job, Parker!
I see when you pound the table you get zoom creep on your camera . If you out a thick rubber band around your lens so half touches the zoom ring and the other half on the lens plastic, it will help with the zoom creep.
Why would the gusset be 1" less? That's good info though as I'm also making my first backpack right now and this video came in clutch with some helpful tips!
One thing I have trouble with is planning the assembly of parts in with the design of a bag. How do you figure what part goes on first? I explained it to a friend like you have to plan on building a house but some of the rooms have to be fully decorated as they’re put in.
Yeah i totally agree John. I've messed that up too many times. It's almost like you have to be 10 steps ahead in your planning when youre crafting a bag.
I wondered if that question would come through haha. The truth is, i sometimes use both because I'm still trying to decide what I like more. For the most part it seems they perform the same but the main difference is that with the straight knife you pull towards you and with the head knife you push away. I like pushing away from myself more but it takes some practice so I'm still learning what I like:)
Maybe I added more confusion then necessary by saying that, but the pattern is almost identical with just a few TINY changes. I just didn't think it was necessary to spend the time to print out the 50+ pages, piece them together, glue them, recut on poster and use for the video, when I already had one cut out.
Hey there! yeah we have some products set up at the weber state downtown store on Washington. I don't know if there's a lot left since the holidays but definitely check it out:)
I second that. I like the structure and rigity you get from the heavier leather. It feels a lot tougher and less flimsy. However, it could definitely be made using light weight leather or even canvas but you would have to make a few changes to the pattern
I don't have much experience with canvas, though i'm hoping to start picking it up soon. I imagine the general idea of this bag should work but you'd probably have to make a few changes
