@@juanrivera2727you’re not the only one. I think it’s a cheap and unfair way to die like that since falling off into something doesn’t qualify as a hazard unlike enemies, lava, shocked, and even falling on a endless pit. (should’ve been stunned for a few seconds to make it fair)
@@luigi8230Nope, falling deaths are completely gone. I tested it in EX-10 (Tallest level in the game) by falling from the highest point possible, and Mario still just gets stunned.
The remake seems to be kinda lacking in terms of charm and personality. Ngl, it feels like a step backwards, specially now that we live in a post-Wonder world.
I enjoyed the remake. However, I can admit a lot of the charm from the original is gone clearly removed by nintendo to appeal more to kids. Mario vs dk on gba was my first ever game, so the remake is pretty underwhemling. After wonder, I expected more.
Thank you for uploading this comparison, I was very disappointed, I was excited to see Mario's death animations, such as Mario being crushed, electrocuted, burned, etc. Just a generic animation for everything, it's very sad :/
I agree, why did they have to turn it into Super Mario Bros Death Animations? I could have understood it for fire and Lava Because Sunshine kinda Was.. kinda scary with him instantly dying in Lava But everything else could have stayed
It looks very nice the Remake, but.... What's the use of the two game modes (classic and relaxed), if there is no challenge in both... In the relaxed mode, as its name indicates, there is no time, and sure that in other aspects it will also be easier, it is good for new people or people who do not want a challenge. And in the classic, if there is time, but there are no points to get the stars per level... In the original you have to do it in: Less time Kill what you can Get the three gifts ... And that's how you get a record and the star. It seems that here, you get to spend it with the gifts and run... In addition it seems that there is no death by fall ... in the original if you fall from a great height, or you stay a few seconds still for the blow, or die for being too high, as we see in the video. What a disappointment for those looking for a challenge .... At the time I got 100% on the GBA, now it will be a joke... If I knew about it, I wouldn't even buy it... since I don't see a critical video or any website about it...
"about the fall damage" me in the original: "jumps off a ledge and brokes both legs" AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!! MY LEGS!!! WHY DID I HAVE A STUPID IDEA JUST TO JUMP OFF THE F"bip"ING LEDGE?!?!?! me in the remake: "jumps off a ledge but don't take damage" huh that's strange i thought my legs would have broke if i jumped this high. well at least they are intact
The opening and some of the lines Mario said during opening and coming out of the key hole and the lines he said running after dk are the only things I wish they didn’t leave out of the game. Other than that the game was great.
There seems to be a complete absence of some things from the original that make the remake much easier. First of all, it's way too easy to get stars now?? In the original you had a point requirement and had to get all 3 presents. Now as long as you get the presents you'll be given the star. It feels too easy. Also.. where on earth is the fall damage? In the original, you really had to be careful, here you can fall from much greater heights and not even have a scratch or movement penalty...
I've played through almost all of the remake now. While i am pretty happy with it overall, its clear nintendo was once again aiming towards a target audience of young kids. The death animations for one thing are too generic compared to the original. While i can agree that mario literally getting electrocuted, crushed, or falling on his head may be a bit morbid, it's a shame it was replaced with something so generic. Marios' voicelines are fine but off. They didn't need to remove so many of them from the original? As long as mario shouts WAHHOOOO all the time, i guess that's fine.. right? Mario doesn't show an inch of anger towards DK. With the music situation, I'm glad to hear some of the original tracks got a remix.. but there's some missing here. Where's the awesome fire mountain themes? Wheres twilight city? Where's the DK boss battle themes? I am a fan of the new music since I like smooth jazz, but I was disappointed to hear so many tracks were cut.
The original not only has more charm but it’s also playable on Wii U and 3DS and some some better challenge as a platformer. And where’s my Score? That made it more fun.
@fco64 for example imagine Nintendo keeping the thing where Mario goes directly from Fire to Small when he takes damage, will they keep it in a mdern remake of SMB? Ofc not, making a remake doesn't imply that it should be 10000% accurate, many things were being experimented with in the early decades of Mario like fall damage and now have been agreed upon
@@MedAnimations but still it takes away with some of the challenges and it pretty much disappoints me that they take away the comedic sound effects like when Mario gets squished he becomes flat and a splat sound effect will play
It’s not an Opinion you speak the truth and also I play GBA version on Wii U and looks great and is still intact in gameplay but with UNCUT Stuff. (Also working through it on my 3DS).
Man, I don't see why this remake is getting so much hate beyond the $50 price tag. I've 100%'ed the original, and this remake is pretty much an objective improvement in nearly every aspect. The only questionable choice imo was removing the score criteria for 100% each level, but that's honestly not that big of a deal imo, especially considering they preserved the need to be as fast as possible in the time attack mode.
Because it gets of the charm and doesn't off that much new. Also would have been a great time for them to reintroduce the scrapped level creator because unless i'm mistaken the remake doesn't have that.
It's the same decades old easy game but made even easier (no fall damage) and all the soul/charm removed (unique death animations and voices). That'll be $50 plus tip.
@@blueyosh43 I can agree with it being easier, but I don't agree with it sucking out all the charm. I mean, the original used a bunch of cheap stock sound effects while the remake has infinitely better sound design. The only way I can see it having less charm is in its death animations, but like you said, people probably won't die very much because it's so easy, so that feels more like a nitpick than anything. All of the gameplay animations are good, the models look way better and have actual facial expressions, the level themes and environments are much more varied and interesting, and the gameplay is totally in tact. This game is better than the GBA version in practically every regard imo.
@@blueyosh43It definitely is the same no joke but the Charm is gone and stuff got cut And I only played the Demo and think I’ll stick with GBA version on Wii U for now and also 3DS heh.
Is the entire game basically just updated graphics?! Is Nintendo really that lazy, AGAIN, and doesn't come up anything new, but just copy paste what has already been there decades ago?! Man... Since Sora is in Smash Bros, Nintendo seemed to have learned quite a lot from working with Disney...
There's some added things like 2 player co-op which is apparently more fun then you'd expect, and 2 added worlds. Not a professional on this series so I can't really do a deep dive
