Part 1 SOLO CANOE CAMPING Trip on Michigan's Two Hearted River Part 1

Call it a challenge or call it a beat-down, either way I was warned that the upper half of the Two Hearted River might result in my worst canoe trip of the year. I was told of steep muddy banks, a tangled shore, an over-abundance of log jams and a historic 21,135 acre burn area from the 2012 Duck Lake Forest Fire. That was all I needed to hear. I was definitely paddling the Two Hearted over Mother's Day Weekend.

I've been to that river and I admire you for taking it all the way from high bridge. I know there's a ton of log jams down that stretch. Nice work!

If more canoeists carried Silky Big Boy Folding Saws or a Council Tool's Camp Axe, we'd have the finest rivers and portage trails in the World...just take out or off what is either dead or deadly and move on. That is one nice canoe too. It looks very easy to turn, even in that cross wind that slammed into you. Nice production. I'm subscribing. Respectfully, Mr. T.C. Cross Detroit, Michigan *P.S.* This just gave me another Camping & Canoeing Trip idea! Taking off for no other reason than to go out and clear portages and #StealthCamp while doing it. Two birds, one stone. Hmmm........

Great job. Must give you alot of credit. About 11 years I did the same trip with my 14 year old son and a friend. Was meant to be a fishing trip but spent our energy on portaging our 2 canoes what felt like 60x. Beautiful country. Again, Kudos to you for doing it solo.

EXCELLENT! I really enjoyed the voice over audio. It gave nice insight to what you were thinking about. I also enjoy watching segments where it is just the sound of the tasks at hand. Even without voice over your actions tell a great story. Keep the videos coming. BTW, I have friends in ND that make a drink they call aiming fluid using Everclear and flavor extracts. Whicked stuff. My friends and I attempted this trip in May 2017 and had to bail out at the first chance we could access a trail back to the road. Too much gear, too many muddy, thick portages, and cold rain got the better of us. I have pictures of some of the downed trees that took many frames to capture. We didn't even make it to our first intended campsite (Reed and Green bridge). It was a memorial trip, but I still feel the THR got the better of me.
