She is not starving her family! If they want seconds, it is there for them to come back. What she is doing is teaching them portion sizes. I know, I fed a LOT of kids in my time. Teaching portions is important as some of the kids I worked with came out of food insecurity and I had to teach them that hoarding food is NOT ok and if they are hungry just ask for more.

A little tip I learned from HelloFresh is that pasta water will help to thicken what you're making if you use that instead of plain water. Also pasta water and butter will make like a little sauce so it kinda thickens up whatever you're making too.

I love your video's. I too have had a budget to use for food. I'm not going to tell you my age but when I first got married a box of mac & cheese was 3 for a dollar. Two money saving things I've done from time to time are: 1= when your having mashed potatoes when you peal your taters take a tad more tater off with your peal and the next night fry up the peals. They are really good. 2= I buy my ground meat in 3 or 5 pound rolls. Brown your ground meat (the whole roll) and then add cooked brown lentils to the ground meat before you bag it up for the freezer. You can increase your ground meat by at least one or two pounds. When you need ground meat you just remove one of the packages and pop it in the microwave and thaw. Wa-la you have cooked ground meat for your recipe. Love your new hair cut.

We received $754/mo on my disability check and that was the only income we had except for the occasional child support check that showed up after my husband and I were in a head on collision with a semi and all we received in food stamps was $85/mo for two adults and a child. It was rough trying to make ends meet and be able to buy enough food for us for the month. At the beginning we qualified for government commodities which really helped because I didn’t have to buy American cheese, butter, peanut butter, macaroni, rice or beans. Once they stopped giving out commodities I had to try and figure out how to purchase those items also. I had to get very creative sometimes so we could eat a filling meal. At one of my recertification appointments the caseworker asked me if my son or I had any Indian, Mexican or Black in us that we could prove because if I could then I would go from $10/mo to $250/mo even though I was back to work at that time. I was going to refuse it because $10 isn’t much but as the caseworker pointed out it kept my son on state insurance and thankfully I did it because his appendix ruptured two weeks before his insurance expired. The system is most definitely rigged.

Brook, love you girl. When people dont have a lot of $$ they can't buy a lot of food. You showed us how to eat well on a little bit of $$. I remember growing up (I'm 76 now) my wonderful Mom would a lot of times only eat a little bit and say she was full. Being kids, we didn't pay attention. After my kids came along, i realized why. If you dont have $$ you have smaller portions. You have helped a lot of people by showing how you can prepare good, healthy food on a small budget. There isn't always going to be massive amounts of food. You are doing a good service, and it is appreciated. As the amount of $$ goes up the portions get bigger. Haters, go back to your corners.

First, never apologize for video timing. You have a life, and a family, those who don't understand that can just...well....you know, lol. Also, your hair is CUTE!!! I have to do a clip on top, and one in back so it doesn't fall, lol. Salsa verde is my fave salsa. I just use salsa/chicken in crockpot to make chicken tacos (cook and shred). Great video,!! Adore you and your boys :)

Brooke, I really enjoy your channel. I have learned so much from you. New recipes and ideas on what I have available in my pantry from what you have made. I also enjoy your shopping on a budget videos, since groceries are more expensive now. You feed your family decent size portions. Never mind the people that say you don’t. You seem to always have leftovers for lunch the next day, and if the boys were hungry, they could/would eat that for dinner. I know you know your family and their portion needs, and you make things accordingly. Keep doing what you do.

Kyky eats like I do😂😂. I don’t like my peanut butter and jelly together!! Just depends. The only kind of jelly I actually eat on peanut butter is strawberry and me being the odd ball that I am, only eat it on crackers😂😂😂😂. Lovely video and recipes ❤I just don’t understand why people think these kids don’t get enough food!!! My gosh!!! She fills their plates to the brim!! Also, these kids look healthy and well fed!!! Leave our girl alone and let her feed her family the way she sees fit!!!!!😡
@peanut2me
@peanut2me Год назад
She does fill their plates. A lot of families eat from larger plates and put a whole lot of food on it, that is why they think she feeds her kids enough. Using the smaller plates gives everyone a normal sized portion. People that eat out a lot are also used to the larger plates stuffed with food. When they see normal portions, they don't think its enough as they are used to overeating. Please don't worry about them. You feed your family normal portions, which I think is a great thing!

I have dishes from 1960s and they are way smaller than the ones that you buy now. Filling the plates I have compared to today's dishes is a big difference in food calories...as in too many calories. People don't know how or want to portion food out so of course they think anyone who is eating the right amount is starving. People seriously need to read their food boxes because one box of mac and cheese is not just for 1 person its for 3 or 4 people. Brooke's family looks healthy and happy!!!!

Aldi’s Italian Dressing is the best. If you like the Pizza Hut Creamy Italian, use it & add mayo. I use Hellman’s. My family loves it. If you remember, Pizza Hut used to have sandwiches. My favorite was a toasted Italian sandwich. I make them at home. The bare basic sandwich uses lunch meat ham & salami, mozzarella or any white cheese & creamy Italian dressing. Put ham, salami & cheese on bread. Then toast it, grill it or bake it. Add creamy Italian & TahDah. I usually add lettuce & tomato. If I’m feeling fancy I add different cheeses & meats or buy deli meat & hard salami. Fried Bologna & creamy Italian dressing is pretty good in a pinch.

Instead of ranch seasoning, I use a dry Italian dressing packet and add a little red pepper flakes to my chicken. 😊

@@spacecase8791 Yes, it makes the tortillas into a dumpling like texture! Its actually really good. Classically, tortilla soup has corn tortillas added into the soup as it boils to thicken the mixture and give a corn flavor. I had a friend that made chicken and dumplings that was so good - and her secret was actually cutting up flour tortillas into the soup to be the dumplings!
