We're back with Charlie Broomfield, and when he offers you the chance of having a good poke around his undercarriage... well, that's an offer you can't refuse! What goes on underneath a Rover powered by a 27-litre V12 engine from a Centurion tank?
As if the engineering on the car wasn't spectacular enough, you need to check out his garage lift...

An inspiration to car conversion movement. The John Dodd car is back in the UK now after Mr Dodd sadly passed away.

Love your perseverance, have you considered a sprag clutch to allow the blower to over run. It may reduce backlash stresses on the gears during shutdown? Cheers Les

Englishman known for building an SD 1 with a rolls royce merlin V 12 engine has passed away today, crushed when the car slid off his lift….. Is something I really hope i never see as a headline … Good grief that lift scares me to death

A lot of the aftermarket aluminium radiators aren't good from either heat rejection or robustness.

A good alloy rad will outperform copper/brass and be a LOT lighter. These 3" thick things they sell though are not great. I had one,, went to a factory Holden rad about an inch thick and no more problems. Modern cars with a/c and other coolers dont have issues hence my reverting to OEM. Mind you it is a V8 Holden rad in a 500hp V8 Ford!. I also have the same rad inmy 71 Ford Galaxie and that is 400ci with a.c and a big transcooler. 2 ton car. Yes I know it is just a lightweight as the Meteor is nearly that weight!! As for this car?? Bloody hell it is different. Over engineered and heavy. But nothing will break. Steering is bit average though the system is the same as many 4 wds. And then it seems a TH400 and a Ford Commercial diff. Though I suspect you have to be gentle on them as for the torque will smash both of them.

the later variants were incredibly powerful. but the basic design was decent. The DB engines were reliant on lots of ingenious engineering to overcome shortages later in the war. Times were tough for the German procurement sector. Over in the states, the mustang, once it got a variant of the V12 took off, and performed long range escort to bombers and many other roles. It was and still is a great engine, and I know there are many of these engines submerged in bogland. They were shoved into a large bog area that was first traversed by floating logs less than mile from a WW2 airstrip. A similar system was used to cross Chat and Barton mosses, outside to the west of Manchester. I'd just be interested in how they'd cope in bog and mossland. Possibly better than we'd expect.

Your rear coilover shocks look like they're leaking and low quality maybe that's why you don't like them
