Well certainly having two open spots gives you more flexibility but it's just kicking the can down the road. The fifth guy in any roster construction is very specific And ultimately the reason you drafted Ivey -- to put a second side creator next to Cade -- is still there.

Stewart cannot guard 5s that’s why he changed positions. Also why we traded for Bagley Duren and Wiseman. Stewart was getting bodied every game.

Stew is better at guarding centers than Duren. Getting a better center will help the team. But we only have limited cap and trade assets.

Ivey and Duren have been thrown into the deep end since they've entered the League 2 years ago. You do not pull the plug on young talent like that. The problem is the the Organisation; how it's been run from the Top. Many former Players have said this about us the last several years. I mean, we have an Owner that cares more about community work than actually seeing The Detroit Pistons Win on the Court. These are facts. We've seen this recurrence of trading young talent, only for them to develop into reliable Playoff performers, and sometimes becoming NBA Champions too. It always comes back to bite us. So...DO NOT trade Ivey and Duren. Nor Ausar too.

My dream off-season moves first of all would be to somehow, someway began by first acquiring Lauri Markkanen in a trade from Utah, then extending Cade, re-signing Simone Fonteccio, and then with the remaining cap space sign Nic Clayton and Malik Monk. Like I stated before this would be my dream off-season scenario for our Detroit Pistons 🙏🏾

This is Malik Monk stats 72 26.0 44.3 35.0 82.9 2.9 5.1 0.5 0.6 This is Jaden Ivey stats 77 games played 28.8 minutes 42.9 FG% 33.6 3P% 74.9 FT% 3.4 REB 3.8 AST 0.5 BLK 0.7 STL 2.6 PF 2.5 TO 15.4 PTS Gooing by the numbers, Ivey is a much better player than Malik Monk Malik played with two Allstars and a coach who actually wants to coach and not Williams, who came for the money...if Ivey was on the kings this season his numbers would be better Monk highest 3 point percentage is 40 and 39 % respectively of the 7 years in the league he 5 of those years was 35% and under...

I'm not sure that team makes a ton of sense. I mean who is your perimeter defender? Lauri and Monk are most effective moving a lot off ball whereas Cade and Claxton make sense as PnR partners. And Claxton isn't a particularly good screen setter off ball because he's narrow and he isn't a handoff hub. I suppose you could add Trent or Harris with the mid-level and use Monk as a sixth man but you're not really good enough to justify paying that for a sixth man you can't really maximize without a hub.

Thanks for answering my question 👍🏾👌🏾 I live in Sacramento and watching the Kings and the Pistons, I truly think that we need to build like them. The thing that was the catalyst for them was making the decision to trade someone that fans love for an established all star level player and then drafting positions that fit their needs. We need to trade either Ivey or Duren (preferably Ivey) and the 5 IMO. We also need to add free agents that fit us once we have that trade completed.

That's my issue with a lot of these trades. People wanna trade guys all the time but for what and who are you taking on in return? We can talk about Brandin Ingram all day but he even more injury prone than Cade AND will be signed to an even larger deal than Cade. Claxton and Monk are no different, both are probably not going to take on 2 year contracts because look how that turned out with Bruce Brown! These guys want to get paid and going to a 14 win team is highly unrealistic without paying them 25mil+ for 3 or 4 years. We're not winning squat next season, and we're not making the play in. At this point, I would highly consider hitting the reset button on this young core and trading guys for assets rather than players. We don't have an identity so continue drafting for two way guys that hustle and play defense. If you want to keep Cade, fine but if he's not gonna buy in on the partial reset then trade him. We are not in a good position to compete without proper assets OR a identity of how we want to play.

My problem with Ku assessment of Ivey is his inconsistent stance. He made every excuse under the sun for Cade when struggled through his first 2 years and did nothing well by every statistic but he lauded Cade's flashes and said we have to patient but when it comes to Ivey and his inconsistency throw him away because he does nothing well now. His arguments are inconsistent. Hold everyone to the same standard. That's why I say he's biased in his opinion because he never really liked Ivey so like Monty Ivey is starting from a losing position. Unless Ivey came out in season two and averaged 20+ and 5 asts on high efficiency some fans would still not have liked him.

Cade and Ivey aren’t on the same level in any regard You guys talk about Ivey because he’s aesthetically fun to watch. Jaden Ivey having a higher Tov% than Cade despite the less usage is not Ku making up a stat, that’s what happened. Jaden Ivey being a poor defender isn’t a Ku stat, it’s what happened. Jaden Ivey being one of the worst spot up shooters in the nba at 14th%~ile per synergy is not a Ku stat, it’s what happened. Jaden Ivey being a bad finisher at 24th%~ile around the rim isn’t a Ku stat, it’s what happened. People like yourself call me bias and an Ivey hater because I say the evidence and, because you guys like Ivey, would rather me lie about what’s happened. Any argument against me about Ivey uses no stats or evidence, where that’s all I use to base my opinion. The opposing opinion is based all in feelings and fandom.

⁠⁠⁠@@teezzz9645You’re wrong about defense not being a skill. Defense is a skill just like offense is, and just like offense, some players are more talented at it than others. Plenty of players try hard on defense and are still just not good at it. Ivey is a perfect example of being one of those players. “Trying harder” in the way that you’re thinking can just result in more fouls if you aren’t skilled.

All I know is this, if Trajon does decide to move on from Monty Williams. Then I’m not trading Jaden Ivey, I just feel like he got a terrible run under Monty right from the start by Monty starting Killian Hayes over him all those games and he just never really recovered mentally. I don’t think Jaden likes Monty either, I’m giving Monty his pink slip outta here and just eating the contract I’m sorry. 🤷🏽‍♂️

I believe JI’s other skill to build of of is drawing defenders which frees up shooters. If you give Ausar & Duren time to grow because of how bad coaching was this year, maybe JI gets that time too. He is no more of a spot up shooter than Ausar but look at someone like Aaron Neismith -it takes some players longer than others to get good. Idk if Pistons have that time to wait but I thk he will get better.

Ku ideology stems from a Cade central perspective. Ivey strengths compromises Cade potential which is why he prefers Duren & Ausar over Ivey although Pistons greatest stretch of the season came from Ivey avg 22 & 6 with a 4-6 record without Cade being active as priority#1.... Cade under the same circumstances had Pistons 2-28 in 30 games of the season but somehow Ivey doesn't have any strengths 💀

Ku isn't wrong about Ivey, it's just hard to hear. I never was big on JI, because he's just a wildcard IMO. He doesn't give context to why Ivey been bad tho. He was solid as a rookie, but needed a shot and a floater. Monty ruin his 2nd year, which deserves more context. I don't agree with Pistons will do bad with letting players play off the bench. The Magic did that with Suggs, Anthony and others now look at them. I'm all for Duren off the bench and being patient with Ivey. We gave up on KCP now look at him. Monk also was who is back then either.......Ku might been a little 💨 on this too. 😂😂. It's good seeing him mature more still a little too emotional, but he's learning so 🤷🏿‍♂️.

Glad yall squashed that Beef. That being said, how bout we trade Ivey, Stew and the 5th pick for KAT? Starting 5 being Cade, Grimes, Ausar, Fontecchioand KAT. Good mix of spacing and defense on the court. Get a Kris Dunn or another defensive PG off the bench and play Sasser at 2, sign some backup 3&D wings and move duren to backup big

Giving up on two year players is kinda a head scratcher. You need at the very least to look at their trajectory trends. For instance, take their first two seasons and compare them against someone you want to replace them with. I also need for availability to be a factor to observe. Then let us know your findings because right now your plan sounds ludicrous. Ku, the ask is simple. Make it make sense.

That's my plan barring a chance to do a good trade. But that's a path that could be awkward for Langdon after replacing Weaver with a different GM.

Ivey has elite speed, attacks the rim, plays uptempo, hit the boards both offensive and defensive, not afraid to take the shots. He needs to be the pg period. Cade needs to play off ball either the sg or sf.

Zach Edey is the key. No Claxton. He’s not a low post threat. Hear y’all ho still on that. 1. 2. Punch like you said. Zach is automatic 2. Or foul or both. Takes so much off of everyone else. Get Claxton and trade Duren. Duren is a great rebounder at his floor but he needs time. I'd swing on a proven commodity in Claxton to try to start seeing improvement on this roster now. Duren could fit nicely on other teams.

Duren might beat out Claxton next year with improved defensive positioning and focus. Claxton has holes, even on D. He's not a physical presence and does get scored on when people get in to him. He does not command the boards as well. Duren can score off 1 and 2 dribbles much better. He's a better screen game player, passer. He's 20. I think it's a bad idea. Get someone affordable to push duren off the bench. Not 20+ mill starting center who also has holes.

I prefer to replace Duren with a couple stretch centers. Claxton wouldn't be a disaster but it would mean Ausar plays no more than 20 minutes per game for the next few years.

This man kuu said Stewart has gotten better. How?? He has no offensive game at all. And he still can't actually space the floor. DUREN has a higher ceiling then stew. Beef stew isn't a good or elite defender he is to small. Troy shot this team in the foot again. Stew should have been traded not resigned. DUREN has showed he is willing to shoot. These mfrs are here taking trading DUREN for claxton. This team can't defend how is that on DUREN. James Edwards as well is a casual saying Stew keeps his man in front of him. These guys don't watch this team and this is why this team will never go anywhere. Trusting bums like Stew and chaining guys to the bench. Like ivey and killing his value as well.

I disagree with Ku about Ivey and Duren but you're not accurately portraying his opinion. Ku doesn't think Stew is better than Duren. That said Stew is a plus defender and shot 38% from three on 4 attempts per game. If Stew starts next year that could easily be 6 attempts per game which would put him in line with other 3&D starters.

I think trading for starter vets is dumb. If theres a big fish then okay besides that do what Houston did. Sign a couple free agents reallocate minutes give another year. If you can get Ingram type talent okay if not then no

Jalen duren is still very young and full of untapped potential the pistons didnt bring in a veteran center to help Duren development Jaden Ivey got inconsistent minutes and was the back up to killian hayes who can't shoot...what the pistons need is 2 forwards that can shoot the 3 ball and defend around Cade,Jalen and Jaden

I agree, bad coaching is to blame for Iveys ups and downs also Duren needs a big to help him like Lively in Dallas who got Tyson Chandler mentoring him and u can see he plays like Tyson, Detroit has horrible player development and they give up on the young guys to quickly as we've seen with guys like KCP, Kennard, Middleton, Bruce Brown ect.

@dubble22eadge Jaden Ivey, became a full-time start in December and he played horribly in almost every game, except for a couple!! He CAN'T finish at the rim, he CAN'T shoot, he CAN'T play defense and he has EXTREMELY low basketball I.Q!!

@wrongthinkpodcast2140 After Monty Williams derailed Jaden Ivey confidence with inconsistent minutes after a promising rookie season and with limited openings in the lane because of the pistons two big men that can't shoot and always in the lane plus a small that can't shoot...he did much better Malik Monk who had two Allstars to draw defense attention and besides Ivey is only a second year player

Replacing Stew with a better defender who shoots better than 38% from three sounds great. I'm not sure we can find a realistic target given the needs at other positions.

I really don't think Stewart can play 5. Lineups with him at 5 got absolutely torched. He's 6'8". I'd play Ausar at 5 before Stew because at least Ausar can get off the ground. Stewart is basically a statue in drop and he's like 30% as good as he thinks he is on switches. His strength is _weakside_ rim protection where he has a running start. He's similar to Rob Williams in that way. Not as good, but Rob is way way way better as a help guy than the guy in the drop or at the level Stew's best role is as a situational player not core rotation guy. In the right matchups he becomes super important. In others he won't play. Think Maxi Kleber. Different players but same kind of role

Did this man just call Stew a stretch 5?? He can't shoot and is undersized. He can't defend anyone. He shouldn't have been resigned at all. DUREN can be our bam if developed.

If you watched this horror show this past season you might have noticed that Stew was the second Best defender behind Ausar while shooting 38% from three. While I understand not watching, you shouldn't call out someone who actually did watch.

Great show, but I think everyone forget about the first year. He was all rookie team. Look at Jaylen Browns first 3 year stats. 😊

The talent on the Pistons was horribly misused by Monty Williams this last season. That was the single biggest problem; it is still impossible tell what we even have.

Starters: Cade, Monk, Claxton, Lauri Markkanen, and Simone Fonteccio. Reserves: Ausar, Sasser, Beef Stew, Quinton Grimes, and maybe bring Andre Drummond back on a veteran's minimum.

Saddiq Bey, Shaedon Sharpe, Amen, Bruce Brown, LaMelo, said Kristaps would be great, said this team would not be good all last offseason despite fans being mad that I said this, said they didn’t have enough spacing last offseason, etc. I’m not a fan RU-vidr, I have hits and misses-like anyone who does this for a living. Not gonna bat 1.000-I’m sorry I was wrong on Killian Hayes, so was every person that had him being drafted in the first round of his draft. Never will claim to get everything right, lol my history is well documented tho you right

@@LockedOnPistons what I mean by fan RU-vidr is that you’re not a reporter, you have blatant bias with Pistons merchandise, and that’s fine no offense. My criticism with Killian is you stuck with him too long. It made me question your opinion of what was shown on the court. Just an opinion.

Cade Cunningham is a good player, but a fragile one. He isn't the type of player to build a team around. Not worth resigning. The Detroit Pistons weren't legitimate until they brought in Isiah Thomas.

Keep duren at the center . Draft players that can shoot. Put those 6'11 college centers that can ahoot at the 4 duh. Its not that hard ..

I wouldn't give up on Ivey personally, but I don't disagree with what's being said. I just think Ivey has all world talent, and we are not in a position to just give away talent
