How many times I've walked the Wirral Way and never really noticed or even knew what was there. Thanks for this.

We lived on Ludlow Drive with our garden backing on to the Kirby Park platform. As kids we would play under the platform, I recall a steam train going past and a friend and I getting scared out of our wits as the steam engulfed us - fortunately not hot enough to burn! Before the rails were taken up the Royal Train traveled from Liverpool to Hooton can't remember what year, but do remember waving flags over our back fence for the Queen, and having to wait for lunch. Great little documentary, brought back a lot of memories Thank you!

Thanks for the history, I have used the W.W. since its inception Ive walked and (mostly cycled) it You can see the indications of its past all along the line, the views from Park Gate on wards are beautiful.

Whatever happened to to the proposed idea of running a steam heritage line from Hadlow Rd to Hooton? Would have been absolutely awesome. Maybe one day hopefully..At least Hadlow Rd station is being well looked after now by local enthusiasts, and is a true jewel in the crown. New cafe is currently being constructed next to the ticket office.

Surprised you haven't got Hadlow Rd on the map. The station itself is a wonderful snapshot in time, with lovely shaded walks east and west.

I know some of the extent to which the trains were made to give way to the automobile in the US, but never really thought much about how it must have happened in England as well. What a shame, especially now as we try to reestablish train service having finally realized the importance of mass public transit vs the solo commuter in his/her car. Wish my mum were around to ask what she remembers. Thanks for an interesting and informative video. I need to watch the other two segments!

Hard to believe how many stations have been lost in the peninsula

I've been waiting for this one, thank you. Would it have been possible to travel from say, Lime Street to Hadlow Road, I ask as the Wirral line was electrified quite early and the Wirral Way line was steam. Was West Kirby the destination and a change required?

Lime Street at that time was only a main line terminus. The easiest way to West Kirby before the loop line was built in the 1970s would have been to get a West Kirby train from Liverpool Central. To get to Hadlow Road would have needed a change at West Kirby (or a change at Hooton if you had gone up the Wirral line having changed at Rock Ferry for a Chester or Helsby train).

So how many Railway Stations in all have there been on the Wirral ?
@suzyqualcast6269

There used to be, (may still be?), a/the Cheshire Lines terminus over towards Birkenhead, or Wallasey Float, yes? Per Parkgate: Crikey, had The Dee not silted would likely have been the Lpool that became, as it were ¿?
