Thank you for the great information. I wish I had found this video and your others about flying much sooner would’ve saved me a lot of headaches.

This was great, I am fairly new (last year) to foam electric. Very good tips here. I started with a Carbon cub and now have a P47 and Corsair. Thanks to SAFE and AS3X and the SIM I have been able to successfully fly and land them. Very good points on learning how to fast taxi and take off and oh ya USE the RUDDER. I have made many mistakes you pointed out. Like slam throttle forward and have the acft tail come up aircraft get airborne and roll over ..... should have watched you first. I like your point on preflight and setting up trims as i would flying a Real aircraft, like trim wheel up at takeoff. I also like that you point out I need rudder work on take off, not always straight down the runway!

Don't know if this part of what you're about but I might as well put this out. I'm retired and kinda working on my bucket list one of the things I always wanted to do is fly RC partially a plane I built. As I looked around I found some foames made by Volantex and for me they have proven to just the ticket. What is working so well with me is they have this 6-axis gyro system a kind of auto pilot that when I switch it on straightens up the plane. How this works is I start at beginner level and get the feel of the plane and sticks, after I'm comfortable with this and most likely begin to develop some muscle memory I switch up to intermediate level were l have more control and can maneuver the plane in more radical maneuvers. In this mode I can learn by experience how to change my heading using just the rudder amongst other things. If I get into trouble I simply switch it back to beginner and the X- pilot ( Volantex name for there 6-axis gyros ) straightens the plane up and I try again. I am now too the point were I can fly it on expert mode ( no gyro assistance) for several minutes now before I have to go back to some help from the gyros. At the rate I'm learning it won't be long till I won't need the gyros. So here's my question is this technology the 6-axis gyro system available to be plugged into or part of a receiver that could be used in a plane I build?

Hello. There are systems that will do exactly what you are describing. I will find a link and post it here. Thanks!

Tail draggers I take off on grass, little up elevator and advanced to full throttle and keep it going strait with the rudder. Let the plane lift off on its own. Thanks Darren ps I have good results.............

I see a lot of guys that just seem to let the wind turn their airplane. It's like they never had a plan to steer the airplane straight down the runway or keep it on the runway heading until they were high enough to safely make their first turn. When I take off, I have a plan. If something goes wrong, I also have a Plan B..

You talked about how much a simulator will Help you to prevent crashes. Can you give a recommendation for a simulator?

seriously true stuff...who would laugh at a crash where the pilot was grieving...really upset after crashing for what ever reason...I own a few Frankenstein Rc Planes....Because it hurts to throw them in the trash...even though I could afford to....lesson. Don't crash due to your error.

Don't want to crash but what I would like to do is learn how to fly to where that plane looks like a real one in the air

By have very low throws on your duel rates you can tame how the plane flies in the air. So have high rates for taking off and landing. And very low rates for just flying around the field. :) Hope that helps.

@@dagtheaviator soften with expo some mid range. Can never have enough throw to get you out of trouble, but Do need to soften with expo so to eliminate pilot induced osolation. Can learn to pinch for smoother control over thumbing it, that a personal choice. Try every set up and choose what works with you
