The oil level sensor could be causing shut off momentarily at higher rpm. Is the oil level full? You can also try unplugging the oil sensor (side of the engine below the on/off switch) to determine if this is your issue. The fuel air ratio can only be adjusted with a new jet. If the spark plug is dry, black and sooty then it could be as simple as a dirty air filter. If it is wet and black it is fouling from oil (worn piston rings-valve guides).
i believe you're talking about the governor spring tension screw. It should raise the overall rpms when it is screwed in and lower the rpms when it is out.
Honda gx160s use high quality reusable gaskets. But they can leak and the restriction from a dirty air filter will help richen the fuel air ratio. I would think your carb isn't delivering enough fuel to the engine and it partially clogged. Either way you will need to remove the carb to inspect.
Yeah it can be. But it makes it louder. You need a little back pressure like a curved straight pipe or a cherry bomb type (I have a vid on how to make one of these).
hi i was curious if you could put up a video of how the carb and the springs are all hooked up because my friend took apart my throttle linkage assimbaly and im not sure how it goes together it would help me out greatly thank you
broken after put petrol from rusty jerris thanks for posting vid to stop more problemes with rust i will put in petrol filter have you any advise? p.s. I used air compressor instead of using my mouth
I unscrewed that brass nut and blasted the carb cleaner through the pipe, which is the main jet, right? So I think I cleaned the main jet pretty good, but???
G'day mate, I've got a GX160 and the thing randomly died. Wouldn't start or run. So I threw a new spark plug in it and away it went.. just. Issue I'm not having is that on full throttle it build up its revs & dies when at full revs. As the revs come down it lights up again, builds up its revs & dies and so on. Could you shed some light on what it could be? Also how do you adjust the idle air/fuel ratio? Cheers, holdenv8superstar (Australia)
HI, battling a gx160 as we speak. What about the gaskets where it mates to engine block? Also it seems like if the air cleaner is off it wont run well at all. Is that accurate or some other problem I have. Makes no sense to me. thanks!!
ya if you hit the throttle by hand in front of the carb there is a screw that when you tighten it in it only lets the throttle go so far up i was wondering where it should be set at
i have my motor on a go kart so when i push the gas pedal in it only goes so far even if i were to unscrew the screw more. i think the throttle cable it self is set to only allow u to give it so much gas witch i am assuming is part of the govern that's causing the throttle to only go so far.
well i screwed it in just before it touches the throttle because like i said the even if it was all the way opened the throttle only goes so far back. and one other thing is it safe to make your own exhaust pipe or how do u make the one it comes with louder. because i want it to sound louder
I've got a tiller with a GX140 motor, same carb though. It sat for a year and fuel went sour. Now it will only run if i keep putting gas in to the top of the breather. Do you think it just needs a good douchin? Also do I need to count the turns on the main jet screw or just snug it up? Thanks in advance and thanks for the great video.
hi i had a question. if you look between the car and the exhaust box there is a screw that has a spring on it, if i loosen it will that hurt it and if so ho far out should it be. because if you screw it all the way in it does not go as fast it has something to do with the throttle
@sixtyfiveford My father in law built a go cart for my kids using a GX160, but for some reason, the engine immediately cuts off when you turn right! I've checked everywhere for possible ground faults, oil level is good, and I don't seem to have an oil level sensor that would shut it off... Any thoughts?
I followed the steps, but my GX160 still runs for a few seconds and shuts off. But I have to use starter fluid to get that far. It's like the gas is "bad," though I changed it before I cleaned the carb. The gas is maybe 2 months old from the can, and it works in my lawn mower. What else can it be?
