In the early hours of 08 December 2023, there was a fire at a storage unit in Hampshire, UK. The JAA 708 Leyland Olympic was inside the storage unit, together with a few other historical buses. All vehicles were severely damaged by the fire.

I well remember as a child in the early sixties riding on buses very similar to this bus in the video. This was in Chesterfield, Derbyshire. On the panel at the front of the bus there was a warning sign that read............No Spitting. I never knew if it was because of Tuberculosis or coal miners that travelled on the buses who were apt to try and eject coal dust from their lungs. Does anyone out there really know about this warning, and was it just a common hygiene thing?

Hi i'm viatron from Sheffield, in those final times of (jaa 708) were very dramatic when the very serious fire what hits the very unsecured storage shed on a farm early on Friday morning on the 8th of December 2023 when it broke out but I hope that there is another plan to bring back the very rare weymann bodied leyland/M.C.W. Olympic HR40 front entrance underfloor engined integral single deck bus via using new technology known as A.I. to finally bring it back from the dead & that is our future when we all have this new A.I. technology to rebuild it & king alfred will bring back No.(jaa 708) onto the road again. THE LEYLAND/M.C.W. OLYMPIC HR40 will be finally back in the near future. Thanks for my future advice from Viatron of Crookes in Sheffield.
