As i have a passion for mental health i wanted to share my part 2 of my weight loss and how it affected my mental health. I think a healthy mind is important to successful slimming.

So good Michel that is how so meny people feel about their weight.I have battled with my weight all my life some times I too go to far and sometimes I put a bit of weight on it will never end but as long as we are happy is the main thing that I have learned.

I totally agree with you Michael I’m a lot older than you but you have mirrored my struggle with weight. I lost 4 stone thinking it would make me feel happy about myself but it soon went downhill started eating a bit more thinking it’s fine , then the weight gain . Then the weight loss again it’s ground hog day , honestly I was driving myself crazy it has been a big big problem in my life and I think it will always be for me , but I try to think I’m me whatever weight I am and the people that are the most important, closest people love me for me . And Michael I’m sure that Craig is the same with you as you him . You have both touched my heart bless you both love you 😍

I agree, it's a struggle and it will just be part of life for life but back when I was loosing weight I educated myself well on calories and nutrition and glad I did. We are lucky to have each other as we do accept each other whatever and I'm grateful for that 🥰😁

Wot a grt frank vlog.I totally agree with everything u said.I lost 5st in 10 months on SlimmingWorld.And I’ve been trying to maintain now for 18 months.Its been much harder than losing the weight,esp in my head.Id got to a certain weight,and thn decided I needed to be lower.So I changed my target.I got there,and thn started to be less strict on wot I ate.Of course thn I started to gain a little weight again,and mentally I hated it.But the target I had set myself wasn’t sustainable and I was rly struggling to maintain it.So now I have set it at a weight I know I am happy with,mentally and physically.I was in a very dark place on my SlimmingWorld journey,and not enjoying it anymore.Now I am in a happy place again,and back to enjoying the plan.U look amazing by the way xxx

Hey Karen, so interesting to read your comment. It absolutely is the hardest thing to maintain, its a real battle. I think the reason why we tend to want to loose even more after getting to target is to give ourselves a bit of leeway just in case we do gain some but firstly it's even harder to loose more weight and if we achieve that we kid ourselves that we're happier but in fact we're worrying that we'll gain after that although we've got the leeway. It can become a viscous cycle so it is bitter sweet. So really we have to be more conscious of the fact that loosing weight is beneficial for our health and helps us move about better but it's also human nature to go by what we see aesthetically which is of course the by product of weight loss but we need to be more aware that we're doing it for the health aspect more so. It can take a while to realise mentally that finding a comfortable weight for ourselves is going to serve us in the long run and not constantly trying to determine how happy we will be from what we see onthe scales. Just watched a few of your “a moment with Micheal” videos. They have made me feel I can cope better. Not only with lock down,but keeping on plan and how important eating healthy is for my physical and mental health! Thank you Micheal! You would make a wonderful councillor 👍🏻😘

Thanks so much for the lovely comment and really appreciate you watching my moments with Michael as I'm very passionate about what I have to talk about especially when it comes to mental health. It's funny you say that about being a counsellor as I've really been thinking about doing a councellor course or a weight management therapist course but allot of them cost an absolute fortune, I need to dig deeper with some research 😁😊♥️

Thanks for the lovely comment, yes I am in a happier place, it took a while to get there and I think as we get older we see things in a different way too. I still do get the odd day where I think about my weight but I think that will stay with me, but all is good 😉😁🤸

Hi Michael great video, slimming world can take over your life and all you do is think about food constantly so sometimes it's better just to be a bit more mindful as to what were eating , I'm really struggling as I am that person who is constantly thinking about what I can have each meal I've tried planning but then life gets in the way and throws you off plan, I prefer to plan but my weeks meal planning doesn't work. I have lost a lot of weight and kept it off. Like I've kept 7 stone off for about 10 years. But I still have about 4 stone to lose. I'm finding it a lot harder at the minute as I need a new hip so I'm taking a lot of tablets codeine being one that causes constipation so it's hard to lose at minute., and I'm constantly craving sweet stuff :-( but I'm not supposed to eat it, anyway Michael you have done amaizing and look amaizing thanks for sharing your journey xx

I love your honesty and how your experience has made you passionate about mental health with weight loss. I can 100% relate to your story. The first time I tried to lose weight was around 7-8 years ago and all I did was calorie count. I learnt a lot about nutrition from doing it but I became a little obsessed. I'd think if I can lose 1 kilo from eating X number of calories a day, then how much can I lose if I eat Y? I wanted to finish my day on fewer and fewer calories. I did this for a while, but like yourself, I found I wanted to binge so I did, and boy I did it in style. Go big or go home right? I joke now but I was so ashamed at the time that I would do it in secret. Anyway, my weight yo-yoed, my self worth yo-yoed with it, and I found myself in this cycle of restriction followed by binge eating for a good few years! Now, I am following Slimming World and trying to lose weight, but my number one priority is always balance and making sure I don't associate how I feel about myself with how much I have or haven't eaten in a day. Love your channel!

The journey of loosing weight is a challenge but getting to target is even challenging as maintaining and calorie intake are always on the mind. That's why slimming world is so good because it takes the pressure off calories counting and our food intake is more balanced. Thanks so much for watching and glad you're enjoying our channel 😁😉✨

What great advice! It’s so easy to become obsessed with weight and food in general. I too lost 4 stone around 7 years ago and have pretty much maintained my weight. I have to admit that it’s not the easiest of the things to do. However I keep an eye on the scales and when my weight starts to creep back up I reign things in .... I suppose it’s all about balance and not being to hard on ourselves. You seem in a good place now. Thanks for sharing, I’m sure your story will help others who may be in a similar situation as you once were xx

Thank you so much for sharing your experience and honesty it has been really helpful. Loosing weight can be very addictive and can take over your life. I’ve lost 6 stones in the last 10 months, I’m finding I keep moving my target weight lower and lower so I asked my GP should I concentrate on getting into the healthy range in the BMI or keep loosing weight until I reduce my body fat % down from 46% to the thirties ? Interestingly he said concentrate on my waist measurement for women which should be less than 31.5 inches and men 35 inches. It’s the fat stored around the tummy that has all the risks for heart disease and stroke. My waist was 47 inches when I started my diet , I’m now 35inches so I still have inches to loose. I have no idea how many pounds it will take to loose to achieve that goal but at least I’m following a Drs advice. I’m dreading the maintenance phase as like you I’ve heard it’s the most difficult part.
