Its very good that you performed test on the mix. The pre slope will not crack , as long as the base/floor fully supports the wire lath and cement. However if there is a hole in the floor underneath the cement that's where it would be subject to cracking. Mortar/concrete is very strong in compression but weak in tension.
Did you cut the wooden strips yourself? I find it hard to get diagonal cuts that thin. Also, is the black bumpy sheet a hydro isolation? I just ask because I would have a problem puncturing it with screws
The bench will be in the shower but it should not be incorporated into the shower... the way he has it setup now the pan liner would go next, in other words the bench would not be within the pan liner
That was pretty funny, I understand pre slopes, just don't believe that they function the way they are intended to, there is absolutely no proof of that method whatsoever. And again you are absolutely one hundred percent incorrect, the bench should never be incorporated into the pan, your bench should be 100% waterproof before you tile it... hence there is no possible way water will get behind it. But then again a novice would not be aware of any of this information.
