I spent 1100.00 on wires and coil packs from granitelli. The wires were single core which supposedly you cant use on a newer (15) 5.3, and they also burned up because they weren't angled wires, the coil packs cracked also but still work.
No, it doesn't. Ask me how I know. It may make it easier but it doesn't require any special tools. You sound like your making a statement of fact. I am here to tell you that you are wrong it is false. You do not need the "Lisle Spark Plug Puller Tool". Mr Lisle?
Yes I just put high performance coils wires and plugs in my 2015 5.3 , this is what I've noticed, it starts instant idols so smooth with a 25 rpm increase and the biggest noticed was the acceleration that was great!!! I do run with a Range Solution that keeps it in the V8 mode. So im extremely happy...
Thanks for your comment because some people think my video was a joke, but I can actually tell a big difference in the truck and that it starts up better, runs smoother and has better throttle response and it feels stronger. Did you have to upgrade your coil harness? I've read that the factory harness doesn't supply enough voltage for the factory coils causing the random misfire, and the upgraded coils require more voltage
Lol they are mudd flaps to keep rocks from hitting my kayaks on my kayak trailer. They are called ROCK TAMMERS and they install on your receiver hitch. I'm sure it looks funny if you didn't know what they were. Lol Thanks for watching!
Hi Jim, I changed them to see if I could gain any power, throttle response and mpg's I watched several RU-vid videos where people changed coils and wires and gained 10-20 hp on the dyno, so I gave it a shot. I've been happy with it so far because it runs great for just a bunch of bolt ons. @@matthewmeltonTEAMMELTONFISHING I called them and they said they don't have a listing for 2017 Silverado. I corrected him and said from 2014 up to 2018 are the same the 5.3/6.2. I'm confused you got a set for your 2014 🤔. Would you contact them for me?
I'm still on the fence about aftermarket electrical parts for these trucks.There's just too many saying to stay with OEM because of throwing misfire codes. I'm assuming that GM engineers know what their doing. Sure they look great and to each his own how they want to spend their money. For myself to upgrade it a $1000 🤔
Surprised you would go to all this work & for the price of new spark plugs you did not change them & if Steve suggested .065 gap I think you should have followed his suggestions. I understand the plugs only had 16K miles on them, so, pull them & at least re gap. Just my .02¢ worth of thought.
@@matthewmeltonTEAMMELTONFISHING right I just didn’t know if the square to round mattered. On summit racing it showed the square ones did not fit mine so I ordered the round MSD coil packs.
Every vehicle is different but with a more complete burn in the combustion chamber you will see a slight difference in mpg. I wanted the coils for more power and throttle response, gas mileage wasn't really that important to me since it's a gas guzzler anyways. I can definitely tell a difference in the way it drives. Nice but what happens 2 years from now when 1 goes out and the aftermarket Manufacturer doesn't make them anymore? Also, you're taking a chance of burning a hole in your piston especially under towing conditions. I knew a guy who put a Splitfire Sparkplug in a boat Motor and it burned a hole in the piston, burned too hot. Also you're taking a chance of the engine running ' lean ' fuel is a upper cylinder lubricant for the compression ring, some fuel must be left behind to lubricate the compression ring. If this wasn't so, there would be no such thing as running an engine ' lean '
You’re not getting 20hp from coils. If that was the case everyone would be using them. Seeing that people are making 600+ on stock coils. I’m making 7xxij my truck so spark isn’t a issue. All the stuff between maf sensor, tb, and tuner was a waste compared to a real tune IMO.
Watch the Granatelli Motorsports videos of them getting 15-20 hp with coils and low resistance wires on the dyno, It's proven over an over again. Plus ported throttle bodies and cold air intakes are all proven as well. As far as the tuner I have, it has the ability to get a custom tune put on it if I chose to. I know my truck runs great for just some simple bolt on mods so I'm happy with it. Thanks for watching!
