It's an honor to have you here, thank you. I've got a large variety of different types of old trucking videos so please scroll backwards and see what I have to offer.
Great job as always Mike. I was born and raised on the outskirts of Worcester and I still have the same accent as Tony and I have been gone from there for almost 30 years. He is a genuine guy for sure and I can tell he has a big heart and passion for trucks just as well as you.
Another great interview Mike. Tony is a class act. As for the CB I don’t think it’s dead myself as I use mine everyday. Plenty guys still using them if you ask a truck passing where he’s headed or just simply tell him come on back in you’ll get a reply most times. You be safe now driver and we’ll catch you another way another day.
Just a great guy Tony is a true legend, for all you steering wheel holders out there become a real trucker and put a c.b in your rig save a life!!!! Thanks for sharing with us Mike and Tony.
Hi Mike I really enjoy the interviews with Tony , being the same age as myself and second generation driver i totally relate to what he has to say . We don’t use AM CB radios here in Australia anymore , we use UHF radios which can be up to 80 channels , not that the new school seem to use them much i think they just ring there mates and no one else knows what happening on the road . 👍
This is my favorite. I could listen to Tony all day . Come get back. Remember millers restaurant on PA 220. The CB shop on the left headed south . Then on to rt 80 west bound😅😅
Tony is AWESOME..... AWESOME interview......thx Mike..,.you gotta do more interviews with him......how did i miss part 1......never saw it pop uo anywhere 🤔🤔🤔
You guys kill me! I could hangout at your shop and listen to that east coast accent all day Then you laugh at my Texas accent lol See ya at Texas Motor Speedway
Mike you have to go over Tony's once a month he's the greatest and my father had that Lafayette CB radio Associated Truck Lines ATL thanks Mike brought back memories❤
He is completely right about radios and the coax and antennas and Stryker is a excellent radio me personally I still run my old original galaxy I bought 20 years ago maybe longer lol
Mike I bought a Stryker 490 with a frequency counter for 390$ back in 2011 brand new at the cb shop in Carlisle across from Keen tkg so they probably cost around $400 now 🤷♂️I also have a Galaxy DX 99 and they have everything
Hi Mike. Am I missing something about the CB's? If you are using a Connex CB in your current truck and he's running a Stryker 955 10 meter radio, how could you talk to him? Normal CB radios such as a Cobra 29, etc. are in the 11 meter band. Thank you for doing the interviews. Real time as it flows is great.
We don’t use CBs we have VHF radios with preset channels (frequencies) One channel I’m on is the common channel every excavation company uses. Then we have a local channel and the company I work for we have our own channel to keep the air waves clear when we have things to say that no one else needs to hear. Yeah you’ll have your trials and tribulations with your new truck. The emissions truck I had to deal with was a 2013 Western Star with a DD13. The regen bullsh*t the truck wouldn’t regen, try force it to regen it wouldn’t do it. It’s not in my nature to run a truck hard I always use momentum on the hills I never had my foot into it the truck is an automatic 6spd. Constantly dealing with the def fluid as the tank couldn’t hold a full 2 jugs it was 1.5. The I’d forget about the def and it’s dinging at you once it gets low the truck loses its marbles. Not sure what the new Cummins are like for power, we have a T800 same year as your old W900 same Cummins. I don’t like driving it the Cummins power band sucks. My Kenworth has a little 10.3 litre Cat it pulls like a Cat it’s predictable power. The Cummins it’s hit or miss. I’m sure you’ll get used to your new singer sewing machine.
You can get a galaxy 94hp for about 460.00 it’s basically a 99 but with more power, it’s a 100 watt right out of the box, I bought one at MATS from that guy selling cb stuff! I have a 99 but it’s getting warn out and no one wants to work on it🥴
Agree with tony & mike eld and the epa are the are the downfall of the trucking industry everyday theres a new requlation goverment has no business in trucking !!!
My Dad is a retired Mack mechanic, driver and my grandfathers where owners and they wouldn’t let me become a driver because of automatic transmissions. Old timers
You guys are nuts the hours of service didn’t change, elds just keep you honest and I drove for 54 years I know it used to be 15 and 8 but when E logs came out it was the best thing for me cause the companies couldn’t push you any more!!!!
I 💯 agree with you i’m on Elog now but started on paper back in 2008 and wouldn’t want to go back . The only people bitching are the guys who like to run 2-3 log books
These big companies (and getting bigger,) won’t allow it either. No hand-helds, all in the name of “safety.” And they put the cameras on ya to make sure
Mike, I watch you all the time but Tony He’s way off base on some things and I’m a little disappointed in you cause you’re either nieve (which I don’t believe) or you’re just a yes man,I would’ve walked away as soon as he started on the eld cause the rules are the same, paper or electric 🤷♂️
I agree with Tony, ELD's are the downfall of the trucking industry as well as poor truck driver training. It's a tough enough job and lifestyle without being up against the clock, the clock constantly ticking has created an environment of drivers driving tired and faster than they need to but with that said, paper logs weren't much better where drivers did corrective logging.
@@TheBostonTrucker the job is not hard if you enjoy what you do and if you’re up against the clock all the time it’s time to get a better or different job 🤷♂️
Dont see what the ELD's really changed to me. Guys just use it as an excuse to bitch. Hours of service are basically the same.Yeah, you cant run three books anymore. Good!.
@@matkremzar5474 elf, truck inspections, which are recorded on a nationwide database so if you have a clean inspection you get a cvsa sticker in your windshield which is good for 30 days and usually if the inspector sees it even past the 30 days they will just roll you through. If you are wrote up that too will be in the database and they will be watching you more closely. If you’re getting hastled by a cop you’re probably doing Something to get their attention
