Paint Protection Film material - The material (PPF) used in this video is NexGen by PremiumShield, which is now owned by Eastman. The material itself is going away at the end of 2022. So, we'll be switching over to an Eastman brand or be on the hunt for a new brand.
It's taken years to perfect our installs, and we'd like to share this knowledge with everyone.
My name is Brent and I have been an automotive window tinter since 1998 and have been installing paint protection film since 2004. In 1998 I took a 5 day class to learn the basics of window tinting. Then I started tinting cars and learning as I went. In 2004 I bought a roll of paint protection film (clear bra by 3m) and taught myself how to install it. I am now the Owner of ENCORE Window Tinting and Paint Protection Film in Stockton, CA.

I've installed PPF for 15 years and stopped thinking about these steps you talk about and just did them by reflex to have a nice clean job, so for all the newbees watching, listen to this guy he really knows what he's talking about and explains it really well.

It took some time to learn to talk about what I'm doing, while I'm doing it. lol I'm still getting better at it with each passing video. Like you said, I don't even realize what and why I was doing something. It's just mussel memory now. I've really had to start paying attention to what I'm doing and then explain it the best I can. Thank you for this comment! Have you watched anyone else's PPF videos on RU-vid? If so, do you have anything you liked in other videos (or other channels) that I'm not doing?

@@EncorePPFtint I've watched a bunch of videos and used to watch one guy I found good, I forget what his chanel is now, but he doesn't seem to make content anymore. I find a lot out there is not really realistic in the real world or is missing details. Right now your videos are the most realistic and well explained

Is it the guy that bulked PPF on a yellowish Acura NSX hood? I think it was an acura. It had a deep recessed vent in it.

Great video. I think you should do a video of all the tools that you mainly use - different squeegees, knifes, sprayers, etc. Thanks!

Thanks for the idea! I'll start keeping track of the tools I use and then do a video on them and their uses.

Man, awesome videos! Your floors look great. What did you do the floors with?
@EncorePPFtint
@EncorePPFtint Год назад
Thank you for the feedback. 👍🏻 The floor is a Leggari floor system. I'd say it's been a pretty strong floor. It's a 2 part epoxy. It was quite a bit of work to install but Worth it. Way stronger than the paint on stuff!

Excellent as always, what mil thickness is the material your using
@EncorePPFtint
@EncorePPFtint 6 месяцев назад
It's an 8mil material. I used to install some 10 mil on headlight, but that stuff was hard to work with. That was also a long time ago. I'm pretty sure it was made by 3m.

@@EncorePPFtint two questions, what brand are you using, and what is the best ambient air temp for the install bay.
@EncorePPFtint
@EncorePPFtint 6 месяцев назад
Most of the ppf in my videos is going to be PremiumShield NextGen. The air temp in the shop varies from 67-80 degrees F, depending on the time of year. I run the heater in the winter and ac in the summer. If I could make it one temp, I would be right around 70 all year.

Yeah…company I used messed up the edges.. didn’t get close enough to the extractor vents..an 85%job…
@EncorePPFtint
@EncorePPFtint Год назад
I'm guessing that is because they didn't remove the vents to do the installation. Every shop does things a little different. Those are so easy to remove, and I want little to no visible edges in my installs. 👍🏻
@BMan100
@BMan100 Год назад
@@EncorePPFtint yeah, that’s what I was expecting from them…guess they are too used to doing bloody Tesla’s ….lol got a video on how to dyi video to reattach edges that are coming off from shut lines? Lol
@EncorePPFtint
@EncorePPFtint Год назад
Is it actually popping up around the vents? That's pretty much game over for that install. Sometimes, it can be a pushed back down, but almost never without leaving some kind of lift line. What color is your challenger? That's a bummer!
@BMan100
@BMan100 Год назад
@@EncorePPFtint oh no not around the vents, the shut lines pretty much. Along the doors, hood, trunk lid, the bits where they fold over around the edges. Those are coming off. Sorry if I want clear, rough at times typing on the app (like I am now)My cars white (Knuckle harr harr dodge) with the caramel interior. With the 6 spd manual and the hellcat brakes
@EncorePPFtint
@EncorePPFtint Год назад
Oh OK. I misunderstood what you were saying. If it's the wrapped edges popping up, it's either bad prep work (left grease or wax around the edges) or wrapping the PPF before it was dry enough. Can you have them fix it or redo the work?
