This is part 2 of the saga of the RCA 45 RPM idler. Today we'll show you the dimensions necessary to make the cuts in your defunct idler to make it functional again. I've ordered some proper silicone "O" rings for the conversion and will have them available shortly for those that wish to try this out themselves. I'll go to a 3rd video soon showing how to properly mount the idler in your motor mount to make sure it has enough tension & properly moves the platter in your player without issues. HOPEFULLY I'll be a little quicker showing the 3rd video! I'm just so strapped for time...
Summarizing:
OD Dimension Large Rubber Circle - 1.625"
OD Dimension Small Rubber Circle - .625"
ID Dimension Large Circle - 1.5" to1.55"
ID Dimension Small Circle - .53" to .54"
SLOWLY ease the cutting tool to the surface so as not to rip up the rubber! You want to make SMALL cuts removing just a little rubber at a time! Make the channel cut as wide as or VERY slightly larger than the diameter of the "O" ring. Make the channel a FLAT cut - NOT rounded cut! The rubber walls are just to keep the "O" ring into place!
