Most refrigerators have reversible doors. Check the way the hinges are mounted to see if you can change the direction the doors open.

A mini split Heat pump will generate heat in negative temps ,the new inverter tech has came a long way,. But ordering on line always raises warranty issues. Parts ,etc.. Buy local and avoid those problems. If you buy on line a local buis will not back up those warranties with their parts ,You will have to wait on the part or just buy it yourself. ,Im pretty sure they will generate heat in and up to 14 degrees below zero,maybe even lower,thats incredible,But what an outstanding Job you did,It`s awesome,and great work on the video. It is just like building a home on a concrete slab, I just used 2x6 wall studs instead of 2x4 wall studs. To attach the pole barn metal I ran 2x4’s horizontally spaced every two foot from the floor to the top of the wall. I hope this helps a little. I do wish I had more footage of the build just didn’t have time with our situation and needed to try and finish as quickly as possible. Thanks for watching…

I built a pole barn just finished February this year. Lowes has basically done away with their military discount. It's still offered on things like hardware and such but it excludes lumber now! Also most fridges you can reverse the door handles and hinges. Not all but most. Yours looks like you can reverse the opening to the other side if you would choose to. The hinges move to the other side and your handles the upper freezer handle becomes the fridge opposite side handle and the fridge handle goes to the other side but now upside down and is the freezer handle. Hope that makes sense.

We live in central MN where it gets down to -20 sometimes -30 and we have a heat pump in addition to gas furnace. Our electric co-op company offers so called "dual fuel" discount. The heat pump gets used in the fall and the spring and the A/C portion in the summer and gas furnace in the winter. The best thing about it is customers that are on dual fuel pay only 5 cents per kWh as opposed to customers that using only gas furnace they pay 9 cents per kWh and 12 cents per kWh in June, July and August.

She was very lucky to have such a thoughtful person in her life. 1 question. Since its well insulated how is the sound inside when it rains heavy with storms? Just some thoughts - it seems with 10ft spacing of trusses you wouldn't need a double top plate and instead just double the studs under truess ends since very little weight would land on wall elsewhere? This is a very well done video series with detailed explanation of how and why you built this the way you did. I’ve watched all four parts this morning. One thing I must have missed and am unclear on. Your 6 inch exterior wall insulation, did you run vertical wall studs to hold the insulation in place and also support the sheet rock, or did you do something different? Thanks for posting.
@jeepmanking3577
@jeepmanking3577 11 месяцев назад
This is a great question so the wall studs are built vertical just like your normal home wall , then on the outside of the 2 x 6 wall I ran some 2x4 horizontal every 2 feet to attach the pole barn metal to.

@jeepmanking3577 11 месяцев назад

@friendlybill6109
@friendlybill6109 11 месяцев назад
@@jeepmanking3577 I’m thinking you did the post frame rather than a conventional frame because it was more cost effective. Maybe I’m missing something but I don’t see any major cost difference in the wall framing and exterior finish out part of the build. Was there a major savings going with the truss and purlin roof framing versus a common rafter style?
@jeepmanking3577
@jeepmanking3577 11 месяцев назад
So a regular post frame construction you still have to build interior walls between post. I just wanted a stronger foundation with no post rot for the structure. So I built the monolithic concrete slab and built 2x6 exterior walls on top of the slab.
@jeepmanking3577
@jeepmanking3577 11 месяцев назад
10 foot center truss and purling was cheaper with just a metal roof. If it was going to be sheathing with shingles than a lot more trusses would be required for the much heavier roof.
@Dimrain13
@Dimrain13 11 месяцев назад
Logically speaking would this mean you could build a 1200 sqft home for 36,000 or a 2400sqft for 72,000? Thats obviously assuming some materials dont drop in price for more space, but from what I have seen building a bigger house normally is cheaper per sqft. Any thoughts?
@jeepmanking3577
@jeepmanking3577 11 месяцев назад
The price per square feet of materials would be the same but the kitchen area and bathrooms is where the higher cost of materials are, countertops, cabinets, etc. price difference also could be different it it had a loft, upstairs, or basement of course, you could ask a carpenter or lumber company they would have the knowledge of the difference. Great question!!!! Thanks for watching!!
@novelist99
@novelist99 9 месяцев назад
I wonder that too. My son and his wife have six kids so they would need to put two or more of these together to make a larger home. Putting the home on a basement foundation would be even better, allowing for more space, but they're very expensive to build.

Question, the dust to dawn sensor in video time of 1:00:00 is to the right of the roof center/right of the door but at 1:02:56 time in video its to the left of roof center/door?

Yes, the dusk to dawn sensor is located almost directly above the front door on the front of the home. Good question if that doesn’t answer your question please let me know. I’ll give you more details.

The door knob changed sides too. It's the difference between front facing camera and rear facing camera. It's just like a mirror image when you can see yourself while you're recording video.

Yes it is because I flip my camera and then it totally changes the image backwards. I catch myself doing that a lot, lol…

@@jeepmanking3577 Haha! Everybody does that. It helps if you wear a shirt with something written on it or have some other writing in your picture so people can see everything's backwards.

you should have documented all of the materials you used, so it could be purchased as a kit..

Out of curiosity, does anyone know how much labor would be to have something built like this if you already have materials etc
@jeepmanking3577

It depends on what part of the country that you live in. Typically you would figure the cost of materials x2 that would be a close cost estimate to cover the labor. Thanks for watching.

Rule of thumb is DOUBLE YOUR MATERIAL COSTS FOR LABOR COSTS, if you are paying someone.😊

I’m glad I could help, take your time and pre plan for your build. It will be hard work and at times exhausting, trust me I know,lol. The plumbing and foundation is the key, make sure it’s level and square, from there it’s gets easier. Good luck and God Bless!!!! Thanks for watching!!!
