I've never built anything in my life and I was looking for a completely different video, but thank you for showing me how to flash a nail fin window over fluid-applied WRB.
I assume this would work well for when you replace windows with new construction windows and don't want to mess with the siding. I"ve seen people make a window slightly smaller so they could nail into an added piece of lumber, but they usually miss the flashing part which is a really important step.
THis is a great-optimal way to flash a window, but yes, it requires meticulous detailing.(Frankly ANY homeowner can replicate this instructional video, esp if your house is only line story ! I dont like trusting tapes for decades, but its easy for client to ascertain whether zip tape has been rolled properly and placed properly . Ideally, you d have your windows/doors installed at the factory in a panel OR have a window specialist dealer install your windows /doors
I anticipate a lot of future law suits around this product. Seems like the quality control of it would be really difficult. It’s labor intensive, so it will get done poorly. All marketing hype aside, you’re caulking a window in.
