Are you considering buying a dryer in addition to your washing machine? Is an integrated washer dryer combo or a separate washer dryer better for your house? Is a washer dryer combo any good? We'll cover all that and more in this video. I have used an integrated LG Washer Dryer 8/4 for about 5 years now. No crumpling noticed. Very happy with the choice and results.

@@TheGrapevineIndia thank you for your comment. Interestingly, after I bought the washer dryer combo, I liked it so much that I got an IFB dryer for my parents as well. They had a relatively new washing machine, so didn’t replace it. They are so happy with it. Has saved them a lot of efforts wrt drying the clothes.

Does the combo with washer and dryer as one dry the clothing completely? I will only buy it if it drys the clothing 💯. I live in Bangalore and here sometimes it’s rainy and cold, so drying clothing takes 2 days sometimes. I really need a machine that will dry all the clothing 💯. Also what brand is better to buy?

Hope you enjoyed reading Sapiens, Soumya 😊 I loved the historical sections of the book that outlines humanity's long journey to the present day. Did not quite enjoy reading the wild futuristic predictions and speculations that Harari makes about how humanity might evolve further in the coming millennia. Soumya, thank you very much I wasn't aware that such option exist. I was evaluating the separate dryer machine which of course will take more space. I will not start my research around this integrated machine. Hoping to get one very soon and I will keep you posted.

How does it compare for wear and tear? My issue is that you be using both functions throughout and in the end it wears the machine more than a separate machine which may prone to repairs. A combo means a total replacement whereas separate will be individually replaced.

Hi @Toys hanger - that's a great point. The earlier versions of washer-dryers were having lots of issues, but lately the technology has improved a lot and I've been hearing lesser issues. I bought mine about 6 months ago - and I cannot yet comment on the longevity - yet. But I have family using it for years (LG model) with no issues.. The upfront cost of purchasing separate washer and dryer will make up for the individual part replacements in my opinion.

I don't get only 10 kg bosch washer only is about 60k, similarly 10/6 kg is also around 60k. Is the only washing machine more capable? Also i have a budget of 60k so should I buy 10/6 or bosch 8kg wash + bosch 7kg dryer which will cost about 65. Really confused please help. No space constraints. Family of 2. I am like 10kg is always better than 8kg and additionally I am getting dryer combined, so I should go for a combined machine. Because dryer is free even if I don't use it I have a 10kg machine so I can wash only twice a month, and if needed can always buy a separate dryer. But I am confused just to get a free dryer i am buying a higher capacity machine.

Clothes after 6 months catches a lot of lint after spinning before the 100% drying. I had to return my lg 10.5/7 washer dryer cos of this problem. Hence seperate washer and dryer is always recommended.

Hi Anshuman, thanks for sharing and sorry about your experience.. I've been using mine for over 6 months now, no issues with lint on clothes. But I do always recommend that we have to clean the washing machine for lint atleast once a month, if not more frequently.

Hi Alwyn, I use it in Bangalore, I have hard water too but in the tolerable range (between 300-500ppm). However, if your water hardness level is very high - consider getting a water softener as it can damage the parts of your machine.

Hi Soumen, most standalone dryers these days are condenser dryers - those don't require vents.

Hi Shankar, in general - a front load washing machine does make some noise and vibration during the spinning cycle. However that is for a short period of time. I'm using this model and it is quite good and reasonable. amzn.to/3taH7Md. You may want to select a larger size for a larger family.

The only reason we bought and integrated washer dryer combo is because many of the users of it is on the elderly side. We decided that leaving it to wash then dry on its own will be easier on the back.

Soumya, I am planning for Integrated one. I heard from my friend that the elastic clothes gets damage in dryer. So can't use clothes with elastic or stretchable clothes like leggings in dryer. What is your experience?

Hi Pallavi, materials that don’t take heat you should not ideally put for drying cycle. So t shirts with sticker print. I have put a few of my track pants with elastic, nothing happened to it.

Going to buy a washing machine. Some suggested lg front load..8kg ai based for 43k but i am not sure..i think ai is just marketting gimmick. With regards to Sensing cloth quality feels that the technology might not be well established

I bought samsung w80 series. We use a lot of basic cotton clothing, dohars children school clothes which use hosiery cotton. They all shrink in dryer drastically. Do you have a solution? I am going to call call center but its disappointing. I read the heating temperature should be changed so i will see how to achieve that.

Hi Shubhra - pure cotton clothes do shrink in a dryer, mixed cotton fabrics don't. Reducing heat may not work as that would only reduce heat in the wash cycle, not in the dry cycle - which continues to use heat.

Hi Parambir - there are some benefits of a separate dryer - in particular it takes lower time for drying (and therefore less electricity consumption) and fewer wrinkles in clothes. But other than that - I don't see too much difference in drying quality. I have family that uses a separate dryer too.

Hi Pranavi, washer dryer give closet dry or 100% drying. So you can just take out, fold, and store. Front load machines will have about 80% drying. So you will stil need to dry it up.

Which Washer dryer machines warns the user if they overload the machine?

The real question for choosing any of the machines is how long would the washine machine last? I've used both semi automatic and fully automatic. After the end of expiry date, machines really go beyond repair or cost very significant amount to repair and even after repair the machine agains breakdown. I've spend 15k rs on my washing machine just for the repair. If separate washer and dryer cost more but lasts more I'd buy that machine instead. So tell me if you've experience of using that product. I'm tired of washing machine breaking down and getting and spending money to buy a new one.

Hi, washer dryers will have similar life as a front load machine. Typically when well maintained (removing lint, descaling often, drum clean), they can last for about 8-10 years. Mine is about 1.5 yrs now, still going strong.

Hi Siddharth, not if used correctly. Since it uses quite some heat, some delicate clothes may get damaged. If you use the right cycle and also use a laundry bag for your delicates, you should be good.

Hi Vijay - I have not evaluated front load machines yet. When I do that I will cover it. Regarding point 3 - yes, I have previously used a Samsung Top load for over 10 years. Point 4 - Front load machines do have some vibration compared to top load - but it is really not too much to disturb. I have not evaluated the machines you mention, so can't say exactly.

In general - this is brand agnostic, but it will be useful to check with the service center once. Sometimes, based on the brand you buy, your service person may be able to give that to you as well.

Hi Shankar - how many people will this washer-dryer serve? I'm currently using a Samsung one - smaller than the size you listed - and it is fairly good. I have not researched the IFB one yet. I went ahead with the Samsung one for the reasons I listed in the comparison video - mainly because of it being a newer model, right size for me, cost effective and having very good reviews.

Knowing bangalore climate, apartment living and little sunlight in balcony, thought I can consider with dryer but wife says she is fine regular one with out dryer. I'm kind of excited with dryer Concept as it saves human time and trying my best to convince dad and wife.

Hi Shankar! I definitely find it very convenient. I stay in Bangalore as well and know how difficult it is to dry clothes during the rainy season. I may want to add a few things to your consideration - you may need a slightly larger size for 4 people - take one with a 7kg dryer. Else you can use this and run every day as opposed to alternate days - the time it takes is quite high. 5 hrs 50 min for a daily wash cycle. I normally leave it on at night so its done by the time i wake up - electricity consumption can be high. You have preferred LG and Bosch over Samsung in case of washing machine, but when it comes to integrated washer and dryer you have chosen Samsung over LG and Bosch. LG is into the washing machine market for long time, Bosch is relatively longer. I would like to know why did you prefer Samsung over LG and Bosch. During rainy days it's really difficult to wash cloths and dry them, I'm a 1st time washing machine buyer. I'm looking for a solid machine that will work for a family of 4 members. Thanks

Hi! I chose Samsung mainly cos of the size (I wanted a small size due to space constraints and enough for family size of 2). LG was my other option - but has larger sizes only. You could go for Samsung or LG. Bosch is more popular with separate dryer option than their integrated washer dryers.

Hi Namra, if you take a combo - then about 6-8 hours depending on which size of machine you buy. If you buy separate - between 3-5 hours.

Hi Reshma Naimpally! Some machines come with indicator that shows load of the machine. But otherwise a general rule of thumb is to load it to a max of 70-75% of drum for best drying

Hi! Oh, I used to have that with my top load. Not in my new samsung washer-dryer. But lint in some cases continues to be there - we have invested in a lint remover - especially useful for dark clothes on which lint is very easily seen. You also get electronic ones like this amzn.to/3vtEO9l which are very useful.
