One day I will be able to sneak the purchase and build of this kit past my wife, but for now, I shall use your videos to help me build a 1/144 scale Millennium Falcon. Thank you for your tutorials, and facts about something most of us wish we could have seen in person (for me, ILM's archive would be my Disneyland).
One thing I'll pass along as well is on some areas, pastel chalk weathering can be used to do streaking on the model if you don't have the confidence to try using an airbrush. It works in smaller scales at least. The ideas are similar, don't just use black, but also some gray shades and build the coloring up to achieve the density you want. If the painted surface is nice and flat and you grind your powders with fine sanding grits (minimum 320 grit), the powder will embed into the surface just fine without the need for a fixative spray over the top.
It's all about the weathering for me when building space ships. Great video..thanks fir making these. I am patiently collecting my DeAg Falcon kits (have months 1-5 so far) and will begin building once I have everything. (Only 20 months to go lol). I am hoping to find an ultra hi resolution photo of the actual studio scale model online (not a still from the movie..but in the studio being built) that I can have printed on canvas to hang on the wall next to my model once it is complete. Does anyone have a suggestion where I can get a high enough resolution digital photo like this that can be blown up to 30+ inches and still look good?
Hey Steve, do I need the interior parts when building this model? I just want to display the outside of the ship and the cockpit interior without opening up the ship to show the interior.
