This game is great at giving karmic retribution. Sure, you CAN go most of the game fleeing from enemies instead of fighting/acting (i.e. building a bond) with them, but if you do that then you don't develop the necessary skills to fight harder enemies like Muffet. Nor do you have the money to ask her to reduce her attack if you need a break. You're punished for not actively engaging with the game's primary mechanics, which I think is a good thing. It encourages you to try harder to do so on subsequent playthroughs.
