The X-Trail Files - part 44 'How to remove windscreen washer fluid reservoir'
Finally got around to making another Xtrail video. Been busy with work and also had a holiday in Norfolk. While there, the windscreen washers decided to fail so yesterday I decided to investigate.
The reservoir is hidden under the drivers side (right) front wheel arch behind the arch liner/splash guard. A T20 Torx bit and some plastic clips hold the front of the splash guard in place. You only need to fold it back to expose the reservoir and the two pumps. The pumps are a push-fit into the reservoir and can be pulled free once the connectors and pipes are disconnected at the pumps. As it turned out, the pump started working when I gave it a wack on the driveway. It was gunged up with limescale which had stalled the impeller. A small amount of Plusgas was sprayed in the intake port (the motor shaft can be seen) to hopefully keep it spinning. I also removed the tank to clean it out with a garden hose.
