Cleaning up a 40 Year Old Honda CB250N Engine. Can I get this old crusty engine back to looking cared for? I try Brass wheels, Wet and Dry Paper and Polish to clean it up.
The valve cover and side covers were clear coated, they are on my 450 and were on my 400 anyway. When I cleaned them I removed them and sprayed with paint remover from the paint store. Be sure to get a remover safe for aluminum. Then it's much easier to shine up with a wire wheel. I finished up with a buffing wheel and polish. This sped up the process but you can still get there with wire wheels and sand paper. 🙂
Hi, There is no evidence that my bike had any clear coating on them, but you may be right and it has simply all gone over time. I need to get a buffing wheel and so far everything has been done without one.
hey ryan, Nice videos man enjoy watching. What I must say is, in the future, when you start working with a wire brush, wear glasses. Tiny steel wires fly around. I once did a frame of a Jawa 634 in my garden on the artificial grass. And did you know that you always stood on the steel wires the following months. Keep it up
