Thanks Twistin'. It was either excitement or relief that I wasn't wrong lol. I would guess that the big Tubers had a special batch. None of them that I watched had issues, which is how it should be for all of the Prodigies. But on the bright side it gave me something to do this weekend instead of hanging sheetrock in the basement

It’s funny to me. So many people say Prodigy fixes. My 4.25 Prodigy is just under 2700 rounds and I’ve only had two failures to eject. Both with junk Remington UMC ammo. Other than that factory and flawless. I mean, it’s definitely not my Staccato XC. But, it works just fine.
@markcampbell2054
@markcampbell2054 Год назад
I have a Springfield Range Officer 9mm and none of this surprises me. Stock the recoil spring barely has enough energy to cycle the action. It's a combination of a super heavy slide and light spring making the gun sensitive to any bit of extra resistance. A fluff and buff, going through and removing all burrs and sharp edges, makes them run just fine with the stock springs. Basically it's the difference between a stock production gun and a semi custom gun.
@nobodytraining
@nobodytraining Год назад
Well said, Mark! This is the overall message I've been trying to make. Maybe I should have tracked you down and had you say it for me. I just want people to know that this is easily accomplished with some limited tools. And that they don't have to buy additional parts unless they just want to. Thank you for the comment and for watching! Now questions: Did you get a Prodigy or are you in the investigative phase before purchase?
@StrainXv
@StrainXv Год назад
I always have extra 1911 springs, they are pretty cheap, the little bit of extra spring power helps break in the roughness, and eventually could throw the original spring back in there.
@nobodytraining

@@StrainXv Could definitely go this route. And having extra springs and other replacement parts is a wise thing. Thanks for watching Kyser
@Jose-fc5yd

The 12 lb spring is just a bandaid. You need a wilson disconnector with the 9lb spring and it will run like a champ. Also the factory trigger you can down to 2.5 with just polishing and a little spring bending.
@nobodytraining
@nobodytraining Год назад
Thanks for watching, Jose! I’m currently running the 9lb spring and the disconnector has been polished and de-burred (along with other things). Haven’t messed with the leaf spring. I want to see if and when it will fail before I start tweaking it. But right now it’s running!

You’re fine bro lol you don’t even miss that many that’s actually pretty damn good shooting for not really trying to hit it that much. Also looks like you fixed a lot of problems ppl run into with those prodys. Sounds like the mags had a snag on the rounds? Shaving it down seems to fix it? I’ve seen this on other guns
@nobodytraining
@nobodytraining Год назад
Thanks, Jeff. It's amazing how much more self aware you are when you do something like this for the world to see. Seemed like a lot lol. Feed lips can be a problem if you feel burrs. But it also appears that not everyone is finding burrs so keep that in mind. Slide/disconnector hang up is the other big problem. The light recoil needs everything working right so it doesn't loose speed to seat the rounds. I did do a lot for sure but it didn't really take a lot of time and it wasn't hard. I believe that doing the bench top break in is the way to go on these. Thanks for watching, Jeff!

First, thanks for watching. I appreciate it. Second, if I was able to take a 9mm pistol and keep it levelish compared to the earth and somehow manage to send that projectile almost a mile and a half, I’d be the coolest person on the face of the earth! But simple fact is that a 9mm will eat dirt in 175yds or less. Even a 223, depending on your zero is eating dirt 500-700yds. So why 2500yds? Are burms good to shoot into? Sure. Are they perfect? No. I know because I’ve been at ranges when rounds have skipped over for one reason or another. I know my area and have been going there for a long time. I know where the roads are and how far away they are. I can see a good long ways. I appreciate the concern but I’ve got it handled.

Hey DeAngelo! First of all, thank you for watching. I’m the new guy on the block and I really appreciate any and all who would take the time to watch a video from a guy who started the channel over the weekend. I’ve identified 2 main issues so far and 1 that may be more isolated to just my prodigy. But it’s only been out for 1.5 weeks so who knows if there are more. Good news is that they are easily fixed. I put out 2 other vids that go over the problems. The longer video MAY be a more isolated issue and goes into many things but included it fixing the slide/disconnector. Other issue is the mags, covered in the shorter vid. If you have some time give them a watch. I’m hoping to have time today to put out a more consolidated videos discussing the issues. I will tell you that if you are thinking of getting a Prodigy to go for it. Easy remedies without spending more money.

What was the fix? Didn't hear
@nobodytraining
@nobodytraining Год назад
Hey Nick- So the Confirmed vid justifies the work I did in the first 2 vids. What it comes down to is a couple of culprits and it appears that the only consistent problem is the magazine. And I say 'consistent' only because of the limited interactions with others who have had that same problem. Next is the disconnector/slide. And then if you are really lucky like I was then you spend time removing cerakote from all the nooks and crannies. Thanks for watching!

The ejection patter was all over the place with some about 1' away and as much 6'. @mmarciniak
@mmarciniak Год назад
Deburring feed lips, in my opinion, is like claiming that washing and waxing your car will result in better fuel mileage. No pistol should ever be so sensitive as to require polishing of magazine feed lips. I do not believe the Prodigy needs this, and I believe that the “improvement” in function is simply due to breaking in from use. It doesn’t take long for a good pistol to break in properly and fix itself. Also, as a side note….most people over-lubricate their pistols, which more often causes functional problems than solves them.
@nobodytraining
@nobodytraining Год назад
Hey Michael! Thanks for watching. Cool thing is that we are all entitled to our opinion and we can respectfully disagree. To me, this is not a wash and wax. This is more like gapping spark plugs or running a hone in the engine cylinder. Sure it can run without doing this but performance may suffer. All I'm trying to do is to make the Prodigy run how I think it should and eliminating things that prevent it. I do agree with your side note. Too much lube attracts dirt and carbon and can cause performance issues. See, we are friends again!
@mmarciniak
@mmarciniak Год назад
@@nobodytraining Hey, I appreciate your response! I respect you too, and I can admit that any place you can reduce friction, it will benefit. I just don’t know how much that polishing and adjusting the feed lips can help, so I was skeptical. I like your channel!

You know what be a great fix too? Having a god damn back stop instead of shooting into an open field.
@nobodytraining
@nobodytraining Год назад
I understand your concerns. Is it ideal? No. But where I shoot (direction) there is nothing for miles. I sit on the road going in/out and I not only know where it ends but can see it. I stop and check often to make sure that there isn’t someone freewheeling across my path but that isn’t super likely because sage brush isn’t fun. I don’t use steel core or bi-metal which is more likely to cause brush fires. When it’s super dry I don’t shoot there. When I do, I have a fire extinguisher and a shovel with me. And I make sure that I stick around for 20-30 minutes after I’m done shooting just to make sure. But I get that probably whatever I say or do someone will find fault in it because it’s easy to second guess based off of the limited information that someone can see and not know the information about the area that I have been shooting at for the past 7 years. But I will assume that your comment was a passionate one with my best interest at heart.

I just bought brand new Prodigy. Right out of the box with the first shot the gun jammed. The shell would not reject. It seems the slide was hitting what looks like part of the safety or trgger. It was preventing the slide from fully returning. The gun shop tried lube but that did not work. And because I fired it the gun guy declared it a used gun and I lost $50 returning it. They wanted to send it back to Springfield but I would not git back for weeks. I am so mad over this. Had I kown that this model had issues since 2011 I never would have dished out the $1400.
