Very cool tool! Can this be adapted to follow a 2d template? I assume this works exactly the same on longer spindles. Very interested in ordering one of these!

There is a template holder provided with this system to secure a cutout template under your blank so one can follow the template to produce your spindle above. We have not yet made a video demonstrating this in use. I will have to do that sometime. Thanks for your comment and interest.

I've watched all of you videos and this tool seems to be something I may be interested in buying. My only concern is that I want to duplicate chess pieces(mainly the pawns) and it doesn't seem like this tool will turn smaller pieces due to the width of the tool post base. The only way I can see this working for making small pieces is to use a much longer piece of wood which lends to a lot of waste. Have you turned shorter pieces of wood with your duplicator? Yes you do lose wood on either side if your tailstock does not extend enough to compensate and if your not using a lathe chuck which the unit can slide under. It is possible however to turn multiple chess pieces on one blank and then cutting them apart when finished. Hope this helps.

Can this be used on exotic hardwoods. African Blackwood, Coco Bola or Osage Orange

We have used this on regular hardwoods with good results. We have not tried it on harder woods that you speak of. It does use a carbide tip so it should do well. Bit wear would of course be more rapid.
