Long time A.C. Milan fan here, and I can tell you that Pato is, without any doubt, the biggest regret in recent years. The reasons for his downfall are too many to count, but if I should make a quicklist, I'd say: 1) A.C. Milan medical staff. If you compare his phisique when he arrived and when he left Milan, it's bonkers. He arrived as a really thin boy, who ran in an awkward way, he left as a bona-fide body builder, with exaggerated uppertorso muscles. Daniele Tognaccini (head of Milan medical staff) also bragged about his transformation. This inevitably put exaggerate stress on his leg muscles, and combined with the poor quality of the SerieA fields, lead to the spiral of continous injuries described in the video 2) In the great scheme of things, he was always sacrified on the pitch to allow other players play in their favorite position. He played as a Second Striker behind Inzaghi with Kakà on his side. He then played as a Right Wing to allow Ronaldinho play Left Wing and Borriello play as Forward. He played an undefined role with Ibrahimovic and Robinho (Boateng) under Allegri. He never had the chance to play in his own proper role, and still had an amazing goal/minute ratio, which just testifies the great talent he had 3) Pato's own poor life choices. He wed Sthefany Brito in 2009 just after arriving in Milan. He divorced her right after in 2010, and being exposed to the likes of Ronaldinho and Robinho, not exactly the most professional players of all times, he became a partyboy. The fling with Barbara Berlusconi was just the cherry on top, but at that point in time it was already clear he had lost most of his love for football Honestly, to this day, it still hurts that it ended that bad ...

The same thing happened with Ronaldo Phenomenon, the club doctors made them gain weight very fast not to mention that they were explosive players, the pressure on the knees is tremendous when you have to change direction extremely fast or run at an extreme speed like both. Duck's body didn't have time to adapt, they should have given him some time to get used to his body not put him straight into the game. It's a good thing that medicine has evolved over time because we would have other Pato and Ronaldo.

Ronaldo fenomenon was ultimate footballing perfection.. even with so many injuries he won 2 world cups, 1 runners up trophy, 2 ballon d'or, 1998 world cup golden ball, 2002 golden boot.. he is the only injury prone footballer in history who achieved all the highest international accolades.. nobody can be like him..

He's my age, I looked up to him when he broke out to the masses back in Milan. People who didn't live through it would have a hard time understanding the amount of hype Pato had, right when social media was starting to catch on. He was INSANE and simply broke all expectations consistently, be it Serie A, Champions League, National Team games... anything. Had he not been infected by injuries, the Neymar generation would've been completely different and Brazil would've never lost their touch (the new current generation with Vini and Antony and so on is really good though). I know of many cases of "What If?!" players, but none other was a bigger What If than Alexandor Pato for me. At least he's the biggest one out of the ones that I did manage to see. Only Messi had a similar breakout into stardom in such a conving way in the past 2 decades (arguably Ronaldo fenomeno as well, but that was nearly 3 decades ago). Thanks for doing this video.

In my opinion Pato was a magnificient prospect but he is less talented than Balotelli and Balotelli was not far above Harry Kane talent wise.
@dr_ubo
@dr_ubo 2 года назад
@@brunaciompi1717 You bring up a good point. Honestly Balotelli was also a great prospect, but there was something different about Pato. Being 17 and bossing everything and everyone around on all scenarios (NT, CL, Serie A)... I only ever seen that with Messi and Ronaldo (fat one) when he was young and they later came up to be some of the best players in history. Incredible. Balotelli is another HUGE "_What IF?_", he never suffered much with injuries, but he did suffer a lot from his personality. Wonder what could've been. Kane is another story, he is great but is brought down by the teams he plays in (both Spurs and England). Definitely not on the same level as the previously mentioned players who were crystal clear at age 17. He did push himself every season to become better and better, great attitude and captain material imho.

São Paulo supporter here. His time at São Paulo was really good, along with Kaká, Luis Fabiano, Rogério Ceni(the greatest scorer while being a goalkeeper). We got the second place on Brasileirão, but still Pato looked like he was coming back to shape. Unfortunately, he didn't belong to São Paulo, so was sent back to Corinthians. In 2019, Pato came back from China to São Paulo, together with Hernanes(the one who played for Lazio). Both of them never succeded in getting back in form due to the long time on China League. He also got married to the daughter of one of the most powerful man in Brazil, Silvio Santos. At that time, not getting many minutes at the pitch, decided to resign from São Paulo, saving us about 13 million reais(2 million euros) from sallaries. I have a fond memory of Pato, he is really talented, no doubt about that, but one time he said: -My dream is to have my foot stamped in the Walk of Fame. At this moment, I realized that Pato 'll never be able to play football at high level again.

@@beaconing7689 Yeah. But he is the most annoying of all. The talent this son of a pitch have is way too big so that he can sign contract after contract without having to show 25% of what he can play since age 20. By getting close to Silvio Berlusconi and his daughter in Italy, he developed new goals in life. Now in Brazil he dates the daughter of Brazil's Berlusconi. He is hated by most supporters of all clubs, as a mercenary. All his interviews are bland, and he still sounds like an airhead spoiled teen who have never faced any difficulties in life.

I would like to know that is it really unlucky on a player's part if he is incurring too many injuries or is it like that he can himself deal with them and it basically depends on a player's habits and work ethic as to how he can help himself to rise from injuries?

Great video. My only complaint is that there were ads every 90 seconds when watching this, which upset the flow of the video, and it was the same advert every time. You need to cut down on the amount of ads shown, as that's almost 15 adverts, for this 20-minute video. Just ludicrous

His story is one of the saddest losses in futbol history, a promise of what could have been but never came to be, it was amazing to see him play, i have always thought that Ronaldo was scared of his potential and how he could have been eclipsed by Pato, the Brazil of today would be unstoppable if he had been allowed to play with Neymar, a real shame. It just proves that futbol is like a mafia, with very little people actually having the players best interest in mind when compared to the money getting made, pato is just another huge lost for his beautiful sport, RIP alongside Bojan.

When he joined Milan, he had the physique of a normal teenager. But as he grew up, I think the issue was a mixture of him bulking up but also could well be the case of that muscle just being weak to deal with the rigours of 3 matches a week. I think he bulked up too quick. I loved just how effortless his movement was when he joined. Just used to glide past the opposition like they weren't there. The season we won the scudetto under allegri, he performed really well with Ibra and Robinho. Robinho for one was utterly horrific in front of goal. He scored 15 goals, but he should've scored at least 30. I don't blame him so much for the partying because if you're young, rich and injured, what do you do? You go out.

Robinho, Rivaldo and Ronaldinho indeed did enjoy partying, Pato didn't but well, you could tell he instead enjoyed the fame and spotlight, also popularity despite still worked hard to reach his best. So, at the very least, he still had listened to Ronaldo on that regard.
