Sir.. Mari khaleja, 1 nenokkadine, orange, oosaravalli.. Cinemalu ela teesaro alane nachithe maalo problem unnatta... My view on why films got bombed are below.. 1. Kaleja-- it bombed because audience did not understand the definition of GOD.. 2. 1 nenokkadine-- it bombed because audience confused and irritated between real scenes and hallucination scenes.. 3. Orange -- completely new concept and heroine's over action damaged the movie.. One more factor Ram's previous movie was blockbuster.. And this didn't live up to hype.. 4. oosaravalli-- over dose of mass elements ruined the main theme.. I know many won't agree with me..

Disclaimer - I admire the works of Trivikram and Mahesh - and the movie Khaleja. Khaleja is in top 10 of all movies, i would like to watch again and again. This is my opinion of why it did not go well with the telugu audience, at the time of release. Khaleja may not have been a financial hit, but as a film, it has made everyone watch it more than once. I am writing this as an audience opinion, not having any film making experience. After watching the movie multiple times and trying to understand why it did not click with audience at the time of release, I believe these are the factors, that may have been the reason, why it did not connect with audience at the time of release, 1 - Trailer - 1st Trailer, was a fantastic cut. However the imprint it created on audiences' mind, pre release, did not sync with the movie we watched. 2 - Mahesh, is the Prince - I think audience may have not connected with his role as Taxi driver, earning 6000 rupees per month and going all the way to Rajasthan for a meagre 1 Lakh rupess. Only time his costumes fit to his role as taxi driver was the cafe scene ( that i felt) - Characterisation does not have to be realistic in the movie, however fortunate/unfortunate, Mahesh adopts his body language to his role very well, so I think the costumes, body language, role - did not create a match in the scenes of him as taxi driver. (please note, this my observation, when ever I see his movies, I forget Mahesh, he draws you in as that character, it is only when he smiles or with a song, that it hits us, reminding of Mahesh) eg -wearing three layers of shirts and a scarf in the desert, really? 3 - I believe Anushka, an amazing actress and a star by then, was a not a good casting choice - by this time, she has potrayed amazing characters and carried an image/engima about what she can do and the audience expectations of her. Not that she has not done justice, but after watching her in Vedam, Aurundhathi, Panchakshari, etc - I believe audience expected more and may have not accepted her in such a role ( this is my retrospective observation, as I only watched those movies after Khaleja, and agreed with few people who commented on this matter) - by this time Anushka demands honour, however, demeaning 'Anushka" ( not Subhashini) as iron, adi, idi, danni, etc, did not feel right. (adding to casting, I think it was reversed in Aravinda Sametha, for me, person playing Aravinda, we audience expect someone with a 'stature' and Pooja being a new comer and did not carry the aura/features (in her appearance) to be someone who would influence a strong character of Raghava. That is the only one of two things that i felt did not work for me in Aravinda Sametha, an amazing movie, ahead of its time. 4 - Establishing love between Raju and Subashini, appeared to be rushed, starts with in the song in Rajasthan, however song being more of a delight to the ears (music, lyrics), we missed or did not receive the build up of chemistry that was in the song. 1 or 2 more scenes would have carried the love track better. 5 - Pre release title controversy/trailer - may have not drawn the family audiences with in the first week. My mother immensly enjoys this movie on TV, whenever it is telecast again and again. 6 - Trivikram some times makes movies ahead of audience's pulse, Khaleja would have been a bigger success after 2015. Everyone I speak to, about Khaleja, always say, why is this movie not a blockbuster?
