While there is no objectively “right” way to watch the show, I prefer to not skip episodes, because even the episodes that don’t have a lot of significance to the overall story still provide a lot of world-building and character development. They make you more attached to the characters and the world they live in, so when you move on to the episodes that are more significant to the story they feel twice as impactful and emotional.

The boruto "filler" is cannon. They tie everything into the light novels and the Manga. They reference anime only plotlines throughout the manga and expand on a lot of the ones from the light novels. It's definitely all worth the watch if you're familiar with the source material.

There are some people who skip episodes in Boruto, and it annoys me that so many people skip them because they miss out on a lot of good moments and character building, as previously stated, it's something i liked about your reactions that you don't skip these, you're right up there with X-TheBoyWonder, who has been watching all the episodes since day one.

Boruto didn't realized how much he has accomplished during his school years, he brought the once scattered and incompatible class all together in one, not to mention few of them owe Boruto their life, like Denki, Chocho, and Sumire. He may have problems, but Boruto was the one that leads them this far, just like Iwabe said "I won't be here if wasn't for you!" Also, they are lucky to have Kakashi as their examiner, his test are the most meaningful ones, we all know he will make sure that candidates cannot pass the academy without shinobi's resolves.

It would have been very awkward for Naruto to take the chunnin exams after the war with a bunch of children. I just picture him in a room filled with children about to take the written test saying 'Did you know I fought an alien?' with a dorky smile on his face. He had the blessing of two previous living Hokages anyway.

Kakashi has to go through Orochimaru when he was jounin, orochimaru's fav student sasuke when he was a squad cap and now his son when he is retired (even it was for a brief moment)... what a journey it is....!!!

There's actually an OVA which Naruto takes the chunnin exam right after the Pain fight, it's pretty funny you should react to it. Also, in the Last movie, Naruto and the rest were already jonin rank, Kakshi gave him that title right after the war ended but he had to complete his studies first.

I really like how this episode is a culmination of everything that's happened so far.

Suzy I just want to correct, Naruto promoted to jonin when kakashi became hokage. He promoted naruto to jonin but he had to do the studies.

Around Shippuuden 490... Kakashi tells Naruto that he would be promoted to jounin after studying hard for it and ig he studied so he was jounin before becoming hokage.

17:10 - That's interesting how Naruto becomes Hokage with the initial Shinobi credentials of a Genin, since he never got promoted to either Chunin or Jonin'. So to me, that basically means Naruto became Hokage damn near the same way people in grade school receive "participation awards". At the same time, I thought about how Gaara became Kazekage a while back; and I noticed something; Gaara became Kazekage basically out of trust fund. Because his mother's spirit has always been assisting him ALL this time (IE: all that sand he has in his gord.) But in the end, both these characters, they never practically earned their way into being the Kages that they are. It's almost sad for me to say this, but basically, as far as being Kages, Naruto was a participation medalist, and Gaara was a trust fund baby.

Honestly, I'm rewatching OG Naruto, I thought the way Naruto handled Zabusa fight he has a good grasp on strategies and Sasuke obviously showed it too. According to me the Naruto and Sasuke are more strategically advance then Sakura. In the start of Shippudden we also say Naruto was the one who came up with the strategy for taking bells from Kakashi not chunin Sakura. Similar think happened at war arc too or Pain arc. But only thing which led to Naruto and Sasuke not being chunin and jonin is their hot heads. They have good impulse for strategies but not on being level headed themselves.

I think what make people avert from Boruto especially those who have been SO in and with Naruto and NS world is the complete lack of seriousness and respect the Boruto charectors are showing towards life and their elders. They have been gifted this world and really good skills and powers which were harnessed through Blood, Sweat and Tears of the older generation. And they take it so easy. Naruto was a handful but what made us love him and the others is the amount of Hardwork and struggles they have been through. Especially I personally hate how Boruto just dises his dad The pioneer of the war and the persona of love and care one who was able to even move his enemies to the correct path to stand with him and what does Boruto do? He is good at influencing people no doubt but hardworking not in the least. That kinda throws you off. He always tries to find shortcuts doesn’t want to work for it. One more thing that is off in Boruto is they have completely levelled down the older characters into a fragment of what they used to be with the exception of a few. People like Rock lee, Choji, Ino, Shino , Kiba etc Al have been dummed down to a comical level.

No. NARUTO had to hit the books at the end of shippuden to become jonin level. THEN he became hokage. He didn't really jump from genin to hokage. They just didn't show all of his studies in an episode.
