As requested, here is a video on a test route in Burgess Hill, West Sussex.
The test will be conducted in an automatic transmission vehicle and there is a running commentary throughout to help understand what I am doing.
This route is quite a tricky one as there is a short section of high speed dual carriageway, some VERY narrow roads in Hurstpierpoint, some 30mph roads which are easily mistake for 40mph roads and often people speed on, plus many roundabouts.

No worries, make sure you drive the roads on this video, as imo it is quite a tricky test route and you need to be quite confident.

Is the video quality ok? As I was using my personal car, so it could be done in an auto, and this car has an older dash camera.

@ n70mu don't dwell on your test keep rewatching videos , makes sure you go through some routes your not sure about or haven't been through enough etc , I asked my instructor to do that with me and the very rare one I went on lesson before was the route that encompassesed my test the chances of getting that route was very slim , I'm not expert or anything just someone that has had alot of tests ,alot hours of experience and struggles( refer to comment on main page if the video) , think of time as extra experience and brushing up your skills as hard as you can ,

@@judexander2708 yes I took lessons in Burgess hill and Hassocks . I have a video of the test route in my channel . The test route is very similar to what I had during my real test .

I have my auto test in Burgess Hill tomorrow morning!! I hope I get this route because that seemed much easier than my 1st test route! Hurst, Hassocks, Ditchling and Country back roads on my 1st test, I failed for observations junctions on a blind junction, but I was super super nervous as the weather was really really bad and I'd never driven in rain before. After 10months wait and more lessons I'm ready to take this test and drive really really safely. Thank you for the video!

@@fatimabentaleb629 I passed! 9 minors though so far from flawless, I was very nervous. But the main thing is you do everything your instructor has taught you and you drive safely, don't worry about going the wrong way by accident and try not to let the examiner distract you with the tablet ect.

Impossible to 'learn the routes', there are FAR to many and they vary all the time. Instead learn the relevant skills and the route should not matter. Sat-nav routes are just custom made, based on rough routes that I have seen used on tests. Finally, got another video showing a Burgess Hill test coming out soon, make sure you subscribe so you don't miss it.

Excellent video and much appreciate the detailed commentary. Just one question though, At the 5 minute mark, you go straight ahead at a roundabout. On the video, it looks like it is a single lane entry, with no lane markings on the roundabout. You made a comment to keep to the left as you go around the roundabout. Would it matter if you did not keep left?

Yes keeping left would matter. Even if the roundabout would not physically fit two vehicles next to each other you should treat it as two lane, by doing this it will make your intentions much clearer to the oncoming traffic, if they see you are on left lane they will know you are exiting and will know they can merge.

I think that if you pass your practical on an automatic, you are onlly allowed to drive automatic. But as i passed my test on a manual, i can drive both manual and automatic. I have plans to drive automatic in more than 4 years time, or after i change cars

Yes if you pass in auto you can only drive auto, but for many people this is completely fine as they will drive auto after they pass. Even if you think you will drive manual in 4 years time it is not much good have a manual licence as you will have probably forgotten so will need to redo lessons anyway. Generally the best solution is to pass in auto, which can be easier and cheaper, then with you full auto licence build your road experience and confidence and if you want to do manual you can do lessons in manual and do a manual driving test, as you have a few years road experience from the auto it should be easier.

first I'd like to say a big congratulations to this learner getting 0 faults 😛 jk , I . got six faults did not fail hill start on a steep hil near meadowhall l but I did forget to put into D for a sec as I was parked on the hill , first time ever done that , I realised within a sec and corrected it then released the handbrake before moving off ,😂 that was on my test just gone that I passed , it's strange how you can forget silly things even though you've never missed that before , has anyone else done that lol

Having a 'brain fart' and doing something you have not done for months is reasonably common on test, and it can be a real shame if it turns out to be a serious fault.

@@UKDrivingTest the first bit was touch in check saying congrats learner lol , yeah that's true , having came out of covid isolation a few days after and still being fatigued prob dint help either ( Just incase anyone thinks that's irresponsible was assessed by my instructor he deemed me safe to drive and well enough to drive and do my test had 2 driving sessions before the test . Even though I'm part of the pink card club now I will still be watching these videos to keep my self sharp and on the ball always new things to learn , I find the video s really interesting too :) ,also another guy with dyspraxia reached out to me for tips and help he had given up on manual car 8/9 years ago ,I guess I inspired him

I would not take another test In Burgess hill after the treatment and attitude From the exsamners I've had other test in other test centers and never felt intimidated by the exsamner as I did in Burgess hill

I strongly suggest you complain if you feel that way. Probably not much chance the DVSA will do anything, but is good to add raise it and add some pressure, which hopefully over time might have some effect. www.gov.uk/government/organisations/driver-and-vehicle-standards-agency/about/complaints-procedure
