One of my favorite songs, definitely liking this version better than the original. So glad I found this group, don't remember them from when I was younger.

I loved this song in my early Christian walk. Little did I know that the bass pluckin was that of Louis Johnson of the "Brothers Johnson" This song worked for me because it was word Based and cool. Still relevant today! I like Amy Grant's version, who actually wrote it, but the rendition by Passage speaks not only to my Spirit but also to my chocolate flavored Soul!

I prefer this version. Its more consistent musically. If Amy and Brown Bannester were able to bring in a circus band or something like it for the chorus then I would have like Amy's version.

This was and still is a beautiful album. I was not saved when this came out, but I remember being amazed at the lyrics. One year later I accepted Jesus into my life as my Lord and Savior.

''Only what you do for Christ will last".. I was a Christian D.J. @ KCFO FM in Tulsa Ok. in the early Eighties and I played this L.P. a lot... it's the Word in the music that give's it it's timeless appeal.. The "Holy Rollers" wasn't ready for it them, but I would be happy to go back to that now,,, Christian artist aren't putting out much at all today that even sounds like Gospel..like Andrea Crouch used to say "Take me Back Lord where I first Received you"... Amen!

@thedocisin35 Amy Grants version was the original. She co-wrote it with Brown Bannister and recorded it on her 1979 album, "My Fathers Eyes"

This gifted group of Christian musicians were light years ahead of their time around 30 years ago (1980). This song is about that 'old', but listen how well arrangement, toned and how in sync it all is. Those days, gifted Christian musicians like these were sadly frowned upon. Now, Christian music in its abundance is heaven on earth!!!

1981. The late great Louis Johnson on bass and vocals, his then wife Valerie on vocals and Richard Heath on percussion and vocals. This album was outstanding! Not only was it an inspiration to me as a developing bass player, but it also helped me to somewhat come to understand how wonderful and merciful God truly is in our lives.

I loved their song OPEN UP YOUR HEART I guess best of all. But right now I jut want to say HI to Mr. Johns who made a comment here. You were one of the best D.J.'s on KCFO @ Tulsa. I used to listen to you there from the Fort Smith, AR. listening area! All of you did a great job. You guys and the music had me hooked! - And thank you ChristianClassicRock for sharing this great music with us. God Bless!

I prefer this version myself. Amy and Brown Banister tend to the chorus to be somewhat comical...but could not afford more bells and whistles. Passage's cover keeps it 4/4 consistant.
