My husband and I made up bingo cards for our own personal enjoyment on our last cruise on the Allure of the Seas. Nothing bad, just stuff like Socks with sandles, Buy a specialty drink, Eat something out of your comfort zone, and had a few regarding Inappropriate bathing suits. The ultimate was an instant bingo if we saw a Karen Moment. We had a blast! We even had some people on the RC Facebook group ask for a copy, because they loved it!
It's one thing if the cards are kept to oneself or put in random public spaces on the ship, But the problem arises when the cards are left, as you described, at a person's stateroom, with comments like "fatty", "far too drunk", and the like. Someone might very well feel that they are being targeted or stalked.
As someone that has always being teased by similar things, it would feel like people are doing it again especially if it was left for everyone to see. It was kept private than no harm. But it also reminds me about "slam books" that kids use to make in middle school that poked fun of others. It might seem harmless until that person saw it.
We have joked between us about cruise bingo. So far we have witnessed: pier runners, lost luggage, Ambulance at embarkation, ambulance at Port, late excursion return, medical Evac, sick bags out, cruise ducks, American football game on big screen, Norwalk virus onboard, Covid Virus onboard. We also experienced New York bingo...Rat in Subway, Snow at Rockerfeller Center, Tree at Rockerfeller, Rockettes, HoHo Bus, Times square entertainers, Diner from Seinfeld, Wall St Bull, Statue of Liberty, Katz deli, Brooklyn Bridge at night...
I wouldn't be insulted. And had I was well, I definitely wouldn't take it to customer service. They have enough to deal with without people being petty. People need to relax and just live life for themselves and not worry about other peoples idea of fun and trivial things, and just enjoy THEIR vacation.
I do art and craft shows for a living. The bingo card thing is huge for us, and is always humorous. I think it all started the day a customer was walking her potted plant in a stroller…. 🤷🏼♀️😎 Also, not easily offended, I’d miss out on too much fun.
What a fun bingo card game. I didn't hear all what you said, so I don't know what their problem was, and didn't go back and watch, so don't know what the offence was. But I think I will make a bingo card for a group I belong to, as our meetings and get togethers are getting boring after almost 20 years of get togethers.
2:41 .. If the fact the "bingo card" was making fun of us "more cubby" passengers? That's actually been to court and it's not considered hate speech. Not in the same class as discrimination against race, or gender, etc, .... while it's not nice, it's also not illegal.
Not so much these, but cruised 15 yrs with Princes and my wife always says the large win Bingo is never won until the last game on the last day. How does that work considering it's a game of probability? No all numbers going in to be drawn on day one until all in on the final day? Last 2 cruises has only played on the final day.👍🤔😶🇬🇧
When the gkids were younger I made my own Bingo cards for them to complete as we rode the golf cart around the campground - prize and all! Mostly did it just to kill time lol! They get bored so quickly and they thought it was fun!
Punching down is considered bad taste in comedy. If all the squares are basically making fun of people and insulting them, then yeah, this could be hurtful. If somebody found this in their mailbox, I could see them thinking the cruise line provided this, like they do the sudoku or crossword puzzles. Thats probably why they complained.
Surely the card they were offended by had some more offensive categories than the ones quoted have. Personally, I'd throw the thing away but some are more easily upset than I.
On the first cruise I ever took on Royal Caribbean, I was at the pool bar and a woman came by to complain to the bartender the two Blue Hawaiians were not the exact same shade of blue. That's who I imagine when I think about who has her pantyhose in a knot over these bingo cards.
Perhaps people should just keep their bingo cards to themselves, enjoy it on your own or with your travelling companions. Each to their own! I would not be offended but remember these are public places.
I wouldn’t be offended, just maybe a bit annoyed if they left them in my cabin mail holder or even shoved it under my door. I often think the ship’s advertising that I receive is too much, so I really don’t want someone I don’t know adding to the accumulation of paper I have to deal with. If it’s left in a public place where I can choose to pick it up and take it, fine.
Certainly more interesting than boring traditional bingo. O would be fine with the content, it's the littering of unwanted cards around the ship that I find unwelcome.
I think there was an old Clint Eastwood movie about the "cards". It was called the "Dead Pool". People bet on who on a list would be the next to die. That movie turned out to be a murder movie. Hope this was just for fun. I think it is a prime example of how boring and dull cruises are, if people are taking bets on who ate too much of the Tuna Noodle casserole served on a farmhouse fresh brioche.
People are way too sensitive about almost everything now a days. Bet if their friends were doing it though they would be having fun with it. If you do not like it, then just throw it away and quit being over dramatic. How did they hurt your feelings or bother you.
Seriously? Have to wonder about some people….harmless fun. Obviously someone was just trying to cause people to smile. Hope those offended don’t go to comedy shows.
If it's offensive that's what the circular file is for (trash can). Other than that it's harmless fun. Having said that from what I heard the World Cruise was a crap show from the get-go so this does not surprise me. ;-)
Seriously who needs junk mail on a cruise. Let’s not start this garbage. Yes I would complain. Yes I would want them to tell them to knock it off. No it wouldn’t ruin my cruise that’s quite an extreme. But it would not be fun in the future cruises if every time you came back to your room to junk mail.
While I don't think the BINGO card shown in the video was particularly 'bad' (though definitely judgmental and impolite), some of the squares that Don mentioned verbally in the video pushed into rude, callous, and in poor taste. That being said, it takes all kinds, and while I wouldn't be particularly impressed at having this kind of 'junk mail' passed out to me (a tree had to die for this, really?!), it certainly wouldn't be enough for me to complain to the ships' crew about it -- just something else to put in the recycle bin. There are lots of insensitive people with too much time on their hands, and it's no different on a cruise ship than off, obviously.
Some of them in my opinion are in poor taste but there is no reason to do anything else but throw it away or pass it on to someone who may play along. I can only control my behavior and I am on a cruise to have a good time not worry about what other folks think is entertaining.
Do you think t should be going and do compared others with others! I am sure I am a too people care. But do I at least enough (please people). To wear a biikini in even our room . Pretty sure I not as visible to anyone abd the I can die happy . I I’m 5”2’ 270 pounds.
