On a trip to the wilderness where you may see someone, after the first day, maybe twice a day, we ran into someone with a boombox coming over a portage. There’s enough stuff to carry over a portage that that alone made it make no sense! But really, you need to drown out everything in nature while on the move?

Did anyone ask the people playing music to turn it off or down? Did they refuse? If so, did anyone complain to the crew? Evenif so, the woman who stole someone else's property and threw it overboard was the worst offender.

Speakers aren't allowed in public areas. Staff should have removed it. Personally, I am on the women's side, but agree, perhaps don't throw in the ocean. And of course, I bet it was obnoxious music. (I know personal preference on music) Co-worker ejected and threw her cousin's CD out of a car window because there was curse words every other word.

She should not have thrown the speaker but she should not have to LEAVE when they were in the wrong for blasting the music.

Those people should have contacted a crew member and had them deal with that. Now the person who threw the speaker over board is in trouble. Plus they destroyed someone's property. I'm sure it could have been resolved in a peaceful manner.

Funny thing is that on two separate cruises, cruise line gifted us with a waterproof blue tooth speaker.

I feel they both are wrong, and agree you can't throw things in the Ocean and she should of got Security and let them handle it. I also feel you should not touch someone else's Property.

The person playing the speaker loudly is 52% at fault while the person who threw it overboard is 48% at fault.

WTG Lady who tossed the speaker! Although I wish she'd have smashed it instead of throwing it overboard. Why they thought it was a great idea to make everyone around them listen to their music is beyond me. Ignorant people everywhere.

On my last cruise while sitting in the smoking area near the pool someone was playing music on a speaker while music was also playing at the pool. I don't mind music but having to listen to 2 different songs full volume at the same time was very irritating. What was more irritating was the smoking area smelled of more than tobacco if you catch my drift and the security who were frequently walking by did nothing about it. Not saying I haven't dabbled in the dank arts from time to time in the past but there were many kids running around while this was going on.

Don, you are making an assumption that the angry guest DID NOT contact the desk to report the disturbance. There’s a high probability that the cruise line refused to take action.

The crew should have intervened long before this happened. I can understand the crew not wanting to be involved in a conflict situation, which is why they should call security, who are trained in this.

I hate those people. People in cars with loud booming music. What makes you think I want to listen your music. I imagine I would feel the same on a ship but I wouldn’t have the nerve to do something like that.

If only we could have people treat each other with consideration and decency, so many problems could be prevented.

I had a similar experience on a cruise when someone was blasting music from a speaker in the adults only area . Everyone was annoyed but no one would say anything. Several crew members just walked on by and never said a word. I finally walked over and asked them to turn it down only to be met with “hey I paid for this cruise so I can play music if I want” my reply was swift with, “I paid for this cruise too, in fact everyone here also paid for this cruise, your not special turn it off” finally my fellow cruise mates started to chime in with “yeah turn it off” thankfully I had emboldened the crew and they came and told them to turn it off or leave. I could have gone to guest services but we all know they wouldn’t have done anything and that jerk would be blasting his music all over time ship.

That's what happens when you don't post huge RULES signage around the pool, stating NO SPEAKERS and/or loud music or noises. The lady should have smashed the speaker right there. Forget security, they are afraid.

As my Grandmother used to say: "two wrongs do not make a right!" There is never a reason to throw something into the ocean. You are irritated so the solution is to kill sea life; that does not seem like a logical conclusion. On the other hand, it does not seem logical to blast music in an area where there are other people. I like a variety of music, including Celtic and (one of Tony's favorite bands) Kiss but I would not expect other people to listen to music that I like. Just speaking about myself, I will get into a mood for a certain music and other music in my que would be bothersome. Be kind and respect other people, the ocean and the sea life in the ocean. The cruise staff should have taken action - stop being a wimp. Both people were in the wrong. And definitely don't throw things in the ocean!!

Doesn’t security make rounds? Aren’t security in designated areas. Wouldn’t this area have someone.

My thoughts as someone never cruising. Is that as the cruise ships have more people on them. You will have more disrespect from some people. The cruise ship is going to have more security stop violateators.

I’m assuming this wasn’t a luxury ship. I’ve got to get a part time job so that I can isolate myself from hooliganism because the cruise line won’t pay for elite security.

I live in a very quiet cookie-cutter middle-class neighborhood. The only thing we have is an occasional barking dog (I love puppies!). We don't have loud music, no big parties, and honestly, my house is very, very quiet inside and out. My brother and his family live 1.25 miles away from us. My SIL cannot stand any kind of quiet. There always has to be some sort of noise. My niece graduated from high school this spring and mom and I hosted her family party. It was a nice spring day in the Nevada desert, so we hosted on the outside patio. We don't have outside speakers, but my SIL demanded that we, "turn on the music." A) I don't have the capability and B) We live in a quiet neighborhood and I don't want to disturb my neighbors on a Saturday morning. She sat outside, pouted, and turned on her phone music at full blast. I was very angry. So please, don't be an a** and respect the neighbors and the host whether it is on house patio or a ship's deck.

Had they been asked to discontnue? The cruise staff should be more proactive in callng security, preferably someone 6’5”, 250 lbs.
