Passenger Causes Fighter Jets to Approach (Credit: / betriseysimon ) Watch full Weekly Dose of Aviation episodes on my channel and subscribe for more! #aviation #plane #planespotting #weeklydoseofaviation #shorts
The narration doesn‘t provide enough context. Here‘s what happened: If you‘re interested in becoming a jet pilot for the swiss army there‘s a two step process you have to go through. The organization that does this process is called „SPHAIR“. First, you have to go through a computer assessment where they test all sorts of thing (english, maths, geometry and more). If you pass this assessment, you can take part in a two week long course where you learn the basics of flying a small airplane. In these two weeks you‘re gonna do 11 flights. Some of those who successfully passed the course were invited to take a round flight from Zurich airport that was going to be intercepted by f-18 fighter jets as a training exercise. Source: I went through this whole SPHAIR process last year and passed but unfortunately wasn‘t invited on the round flight (only a few randomly chosen SPHAIR graduates were).
Maybe you did not get selected because you think Swiss pilots fly for the _Swiss Army_ rather than the _Swiss Air Force??_ I am only joking of course. There's no reason to feel bad about anything, it's an honor to make it as far as you did. Big congratulations and thank you for the context!! Good luck in whatever you choose in your life!
AWWW, that's so cute! Fighter jets are usually very shy, and would normally hide when people come near. Maybe the passenger plane smelled like a Sidewinder?
Yeah, there a SUPER rare find in the wild. They can usually be found somewhere in the ocean and/or species habitats called “military basses” that’s what I’ve heard at least
When I passed the CPA exam and showed up at the office next day, my fellow accountants raised their calculators forming an arch for me to walk under, so I get how he must have felt.
@@j22563 Generally speaking though, when you see three F-18 Hornets pull up in a formation alongside the commercial aircraft you are riding in that PROBABLY means that something is up 😆
@@williamknox4303 it actually doesn’t if it was just one i would be panicking because the other one would be waiting behind the plane ready to launch a missile if the intercept goes awry
Everyone saying this is fake, come on now. If my uncle flew one of those I'd try and track down any video with him flying and tell everyone about it because I'd be so proud of him.
@@jag5316 I believe in some cases they were. I think a few planes were intercepted on 9/11, I can remember a story where 2 f-16's took off and intercepted a jetliner that hadn't been communicating with ATC, the pilots were prepared to intentionally collide into the jetliner at high speeds to take it down, as they did not have any weapons. Very grim.
Along time ago, I already worked on a turboprop cargo plane, and there was also a training interception, we decided to reduce the flight speed 😄, at a speed of 410 km/h, FL 230 fighters fell away from our plane!😊 Cool content ,thanks 👍
@Warthunder-Official_channel. You are not paying attention 🤔, I wrote above - FL 230. The airspeed is about 400 km/h. fighter jets could not hold,🤷 but a turboprop plane can, which we proved !
@@PavloLukashuk sorry to burst your bubble but they definitely CHOSE to stay back. if a fighter jet wanted to catch any propeller driven aircraft it would most definitely do so. since the average fighter et goes over 2000kph
@@r.yuksel9774 You have a very low level of knowledge of aerodynamics and understanding of flight mechanics.🤷 Maximum speed and the possibility of minimum speed at the altitude are completely different concepts!😎
@@PavloLukashuk You are bad with understanding what you read. I said that fighter jets can go at least Mach 1 at sea level, which would be half the top speed for most fighters(that's about Mach 2 if you can't understand). The design requirements to achieve this speed, to allow for manouevrability up to 9 Gs and to carry weapons weighing up to a ton or more under the wings generally require a higher stall speed and cruising speed than the crap you are flying, because those fighters are designed to go 3 times faster than that speed. They weren't made to escort aircraft that fly at speeds slightly higher than their take-off speeds:) Hopefully you are able to understand why the minimum speed of (some) fighters is higher than the crusing speed of some snails...
plot twist: it was in microsoft flight simulator Edit: bruh my comments are literally everyone arguing whether this is real or not 💀 Edit 2: guys this is real if you look closely above the window you can see the reflection of a real human being problem solved😎👌
@War thunder. Official channel. Only one pilot is responsible for decision making if you didn't know that. That's who we call "the pilot". Rocket science?
In this case I'd say it's a form of exercise that those pilots would need to do anyways. Experienced fighter pilots are needed. Billionaires flying their private jets to grab a jacket they forgot at home, are not needed.
To give some better context there. In Switzerland, the army has a program that helps teens assess whether they're up to become potential future pilots either in a national airline or the air force. This program is called SPHAIR. Helvetic Airways and the Swiss Air Force organized a short scenic flight out of Zurich with an E190-E2 from Helvetic Airways and 3 FA18 from the Air Force as promotion and "gift" to those in the program.
I’ve seen fighter jets pass planes I’ve been on, but never this close. Still cool to see them dart passed you when you know the plane your on. One of the planes I was on when I saw jets was going like 500mph at the time, so the speeds they must’ve been going would’ve been crazy.
