When I was young, I seemed to lack drive, motivation, passion. It really bugged me deep down. As you get older, stuff happens (sink or swim) and the motivation that you thought you didn't have materialises without any effort. It's not something you have to look for - it's already there, waiting for the right time. As contradictory as it sounds, adverse events in life can bring on the fire in the belly, perhaps the goal being self preservation. As the decades roll by you come to accept your journey as just that - a journey. Once again, thank you for sharing your wisdom in this video. And thank you to the person who raised the question. Namaste.

And it's crazy but I've had reading a book rolling around in my head for the last week. I used to be such an avid reader. Then one day there seemed to be nothing new under the sun and I stopped reading. Then my life revolved around youtube and Facebook. Couldn't miss a video of all my subscribed videos. And I went to the gym and swam. Covid came in 2020 and my gym closed. Strength Side saved me and taught me well everything. I started a whole new routine at home with Strength Side which changed my life. I found such satisfaction in my home routine and you taught how to activate muscles I hadn't realized I wasn't using. Then you said in one video 'try Wimhof'. I did Wimhof breathing and cold exposure. And again my life was changed. I have never ever felt this well, fit energized and with a sense of well being. I want to thankyou Josh for this. From the bottom of my heart. I incorporate Strength Side and embrace the WimHof method everyday. I am a changed person. Again Thank-you. Now you reminded me of reading. Life is good..

Excellent chat. For the last 2 weeks I’ve been learning about Buddhism. It’s been excellent for calming my mind and learning to be content with what I already have... Sometimes we just need to sit down and just ‘be’. What also made a huge difference was getting rid of that Instagram nonsense. What a complete fake waste of time that platform is. Pure junk!!

I really really enjoyed this video, especially 7:52! I am currently doing a series of fitness challenges - this month is 100 press-ups a day. I don't particularly enjoy press-ups but that's the reason I am doing the challenge - to get better at them and learn to enjoy them. The motivation to get down and do the reps (which I split up throughout the day) transfers into the rest of my day. "If I can do that then I can do this" etc.... I am typing this as you speak, and my goodness, everything you are saying 💯 🙌🏼 I will keep revisiting this video for a refresher. Superb! Thank you!

Motivation is produced in order to chase and achieve our main two programs in life: Survival and Reproduction. Since we'already created an environment were we can easily chase these programs on a daily basis, we no longer need motivation to move our bodies and generate energy to become stronger in mind and body. The comfort we've created and we're continuing to create is slowly killing our minds and our bodies by the lack of need to move, stay active and healthy. Push yourself consciously outside this comfort on a daily basis to be able to generate energy, be active and be healthy. Learning and Creating on a daily basis are two skills we can all use to generate energy and stat active. You don't GET motivation, you CREATE it through taking constant action, learning and creating something new every single day.

I’d suggest people read on topics that they are seeking clarity on in life. For myself, it was very specialized books on the polyvegal theory just to understand the major reactions my body experienced to certain events, also books on meritocrasy to understand how hiring works in alot of companies because that caused me troubles too…books on letting go when I had centered my entire life around the attachment to certain people…etc. Let reading be a part of your therapy and growth. Education is wise, and it really helps push us improve our character and not remain stagnant.

look into the world soul and listen to the signs for your personal life plan. stop being on the internet all the time and getting distracted. you have to listen to your heart but you have to follow your life plan. but if you are afraid of the signs, then at some point the signs will disappear and your life plan will not come true. for everyone who wants to find their “passion”, read the book “the alchemist” by Paulo Coelho. very beautiful story.

I'd agree. Motivation and passion are fleeting and are thus overrated. We also tend to subscribe to this idea that we have to have this ULTIMATE LIFE passion. But that's really not the case. You need to do what you like to do short term, as that's the only thing we can really focus on.

Get a job, whatever it is, and be the best you can be at it. Find ways to be better even than that. Sacrifice your time and emotions. Stop asking the world what it is going to give you. Help your comrades. Damn the rewards, just be your best. Save 10% of whatever you make, no matter how little, and give 10% away. Find a partner, even if you supposedly could "do better"--then you be the best partner you can be. Then be the best parent you can be, in every way. Let life take over.

Excellent video and take it from a guy who is in his 30s that "follow your passion" is one of dumbest and most time-consuming piece of career's advice there is. Joseph Campbell might have wrote something profound about mythology but a career's adviser he ain't. Spending more time reading books then watching tv is great advice but I would also suggest that you also explore what you technically good at (i.e. a subject area whose skill set you can very quickly go from basic competency to mastery) and what skill sets in your locality/region are in most demand (i.e. what will pay the most) then see if the two (i.e. what you good at and 'in demand skills') overlap then just concentrate on that (i.e. build on it) whilst improving your body physically and making your mind more calmer.
