I've learned a lot from the minimalist approach. While I am not a minimalist myself, I embraced many of that lifestyle's ideals. I felt a call to action, to do something bigger. My call to action was to change, to step outside of myself, to try things that made me uncomfortable. I was able to step outside of the bubble that I was living in, essentially, and I realized a cycle that I was wrapped- up in - THINGS. What we want is to choose where our attention goes every day. We want our attention going to things that we value. And what I learned was that I value are experiences, not things. Now when I bring things into my life, I make sure that it's going to fulfull a certain purpose. I encourage you to explore some aspects of minimalism and try to find a balance.

I love this! I went through a very similar time in my life where I was 50 years old. I decided to close my businesses down and gave 95% of everything away. Everyone thought I was having a nervous breakdown but, little did they know I was completely recreating myself! It was like being reborn! I became interested in everything again! Things I gave away liberated me because they were nothing more than psychological obstacles! Got rid of all fake friends, relationships and also got off all social media! Bought a trailer and left my zip code and traveled all over America by myself for 3 1/2 years! I journaled hours a day, walked 10 miles a day and worked out 1 hour every day! I freed myself Mentally, Physically and Spiritually from all the cancerous BS that traps your mind into believing that this is the only way to live your life! Great video, less is exponentially so much more! ✌🏻

I have a similar story. I worked as a trainer and then eventually management at a gym. Things were good and i was single in an apartment "doing life" much like yourself. I had a similar yearning for something else and sold my shit, bought a 45L backpack and bought a one way ticket to Central America. Spent 6 months living day to day. Changed my life. I came back to the states with a renewed perspective on what success actually was. Lived in a van for a year. Moved to the mountains. Follow joy and take risks. Cheers dude! You're an inspiration.

Definitely appreciate this video. I have a big house, with a huge kitchen and sitting area by the fireplace combined. That's where everyone has always gathered. Bc of this I have an entire 20x20 living room with basically no furniture anymore, and I always feel bad about it. Like there's something wrong with me. On the rare occasion that we watch tv I just throw cushions or pillows on the floor. Usually I use it for exercise type stuff even though I have other places I could do that, but the LR has the nicest views. Thank you for making me not feel like a freak. 🥰

@@cristiplopeanu I slightly disagree....to me, "Minimalism" is not a means to an end....its not a "road to a destination", rather than a mindset, a rational decision to define a lifestyle....same way someone who does not consume any animal products refers to himself as a "vegan", someone who follows the mindset of minimalism is referring to himself as a minimalist.....that´s the way our communication works-we need to "define" things....

We didn’t realize it was labeled as minimalism, we just say that we like to “keep it simple”. You purchase experiences just like everything else. Whatever you do, it is facilitated by what OTHERS have created. Other people built planes and operate them, other people made your hiking boots, maintain beaches, brew beer, prepare climbing routes, design tents and so on. You are just an "consumerist" as a chaser of experiences as anyone else.

This is, in my opinion, the best approach to "enlightenment" of sorts. Too often we are bombarded by influencers still actively enjoying the nomad phase, preaching to others to quit their job, live in a van, etc. If you are practical you will eventually come around to finding a balance between minimalism and participating in consumer culture, which IMO results in a truly happy existence. You nailed it with this video 👍

I realised, in that moment, I was too concerned and frustrated. It's just a thing. The less things lying around, the less chance of this situation. Unnecessarily. I absolutely relate to this feeling of "I got more to do." Anything that I have put my heart into and REALLY wanted, I've been able to bring into my life. The problem these days, is I'm not sure where to focus this energy. I feel like I have a lot to give, but don't yet know, how I can best serve those around me. So, for now, I just try and get a little stronger, go a little deeper, let go of a little more, let more love in and hopefully I'm a little wiser. And just trust that when the time is right, I will recognize exactly what it is I need to do.

I really love you guys and glad I stumbled upon Strength Side. I share your videos with my teenage sons (14 &16), they are athletes. And not only athletes but hockey players! Greatest sport ever! I have had similar life views for many years and it’s refreshing to hear it confirmed to work through other beautiful people. I’m curious though as a Christian, what are your thoughts on Jesus and Him being the center of all history? Hope y’all respond!

This approach good sharing on ones development, mindset on how you see yourself. It's a nice reflective insight on self. It did take courage to pick up and go to Latin America. Later on you develop a business 📈 took off well with brother and friends. I look 👀 at your website and it's well organized. Smart business don't stop doing the right thing. God is blessing you and your family. Still making younger generation admire and seek you as role model especially a man. 🙏📖😇

Not to drag the conversation to wrong direction but there is a branch in religion of Islam that promotes minimalism. Sufism or even the basic core of Islam teaches minimalism. It's hard to accomplish in these times but great video to start a conversation

I like the idea of essentialism (not really a thing, just something I made up just now) as a happy medium and I don't think this is a thing, but the concept is this: what are the essential items you need to live a life you love, cherish and are fulfilled by. Once you answer that question, you can gather the essential items and tools you need to fully embody that life. Of course adjustments are made along the way, but this shifts the focus from having the minimal amount of things possible, to having the essential tools necessary to embody fully the person you are and want to become.

gr8. human nature is we want more out of Life..the discipline is to focus on More Quality than Quantity i guess. read somewhere that Japanese had a classic approach of not accumulating too much clutter..any new item that comes into ur life / home..a similaritem has to move out.. helps with staying focussed on your needs than wants...

Yep buy more things, my house is filled with amazon stuff I thought I needed, I have boxes of things unopened. The worse is that this video holds the mirror up and I don't like it

yo bro, try some real tea some day, I see you like "black" so try any good chinese red tea, say golden needles/golden snails. your world will not be the same) there is a whole universe of quality tea, that have nothing to do with sorted in small teabags and packaged tea. cheers.
