I love the almost reluctant feel, like Benrey doesn't want to be the final boss, its just his nature as an eldritch god

My absolute favorite moment during this is Coomer’s speech about pain and combat while Benry just goes “Awww yo what the fuck?”

Imagine your in an airport, and you check your bag for your passport but you can't find it, and then you suddenly hear this music and a giant security guard is outside of the airport window.

In all honesty picking benry as the main villain was a great choice

The whistling sound that represents the Black Mesa Sweet Voice™️... the xylophone-ish (?) sounds that represent skeletons......... this theme is amazing. Perfectly done.

Honestly having the main villain not be some some grand, hammy scientist or some psychic alien and instead be a random dude who just doesn't care about anything around him and speaks in the most monotone of voices was such a good idea in comparison to the rest of the Science team. Everyone else is so bombastic and wild and Benry is just some...disaffected god. I love it. He's funny and also creepy in a way I haven't seen before.

This song just fills you with an emotion of “the story needs a villain and I’m the only one here so let’s dance “

Benry best villain. He was just misunderstood by everyone. He was an asshole but he wasn't evil. He didn't attack first. Gordon did. Imagine an alternative universe in which Benrey was with the good guys and Dr Coomer was the final boss. It would have been super sad o my god what have I done to myself

I feel like Benry was never evil. Gordon just became suspicious of him and believed him to be evil. When Benry realized this he acted out the Evil because he wanted to fit in with how the player (Gordon) saw him.

For a series that is 98% improv comedy, it actually has a good plot.

Unironically one of the best final boss themes.

Headcannon: Because Half life Vr but the AI is self aware is a corrupt version of the original game, the game itself needs a boss battle to compensate for the originals game equivalent: The Nihilanth is unable to be used because of the already corrupt system beforehand, and the fact that Benrey probably has access to all of the Code ,and Gordon’s computer files. So the game substitutes one of the NPCS as the boss, Benrey most likely having the coding of a solider like Frozen, has an aggressive AI level, so the game uses him as the final boss because he is the most aggressive out of all the self aware characters we see throughout the game, and in turns into the villain at the last moment by manipulating the games files to be able to No-clip, fly, spawn objects, but doesn’t know how to properly edit parts of the coding, making his vulnerable to the passports being destroyed.

god I love the idea of the main villain being completely uninterested in being the main villain most villains are supposed to have some kind of grand scheme for revenge or whatever, benry just wants gordon's fucking passport

I love how they included Gun Devil Mode but hate how they forgot about Gold HEV suit

I love the idea that Benry is this almost omniscient/all-powerful being that's not completely aware or conscious of anything, somewhat confused and emotionless. Kinda like Dr. Manhattan, and he doesn't really remember or think, forging fake memories, and living in the moment, if that makes sense.

Honestly, I'm not really the biggest fan of the headcannon that Benrey got turned evil somehow, but I gotta give credit where credit's due: the line "You forced me to be bad, so now I'm gonna be bad" is fucking badass

The best part of this fight was that the final hit that actually did Benrey in was Gordon bitch-smacking him with his gunarm, which was previously shown to be the only thing Gordon could do to Benrey that had any effect. God, honestly, this is better written than a lot of series, and it was almost entirely improv.

Gordon Freeman: The Player Dr Coomer: friendly tutorial AI. Being a tutorial npc gives Dr Coomer access to many different game functions that he more freely taps into when he gains sentience. Being the tutorial AI is also the reason Dr Coomer is so fond of the player and forms a Best Friendship with them, as the tutorial AI is the same throughout the whole game. Dr Bubby: corrupted Kleiner npc. Bubby wasn't supposed to exist, instead supposed to be kleiner, but corruption in the program caused the game to continuously spawn kleiner models with incorrect AI pathfinding, hence the prototypes. Bubby was the best version of the AI the game was pulling from thus causing the spawn logic loop to end with him Tommy Coolatta/Dr Darnold: background npc. Tommy is an npc the player wasn't even supposed to interact with. Tommy was an npc the player would see in a room behind glass. Upon interacting with Tommy, who was spawned outside of his intended zone, the game had to randomly generate a personality from the already established AI program pool. This is also where darnold came from. Benrey Stong/Forzen: faulty friendly/enemy AI. Benrey was supposed to function the same way as a normal black mesa security guard. He would be friendly but shoot the player once friendly fire was inflicted. Instead benreys AI bugged out and fluctuated in response to the players response to an ID check. Unfortunately, this ID check is false because parts of the anti-piracy code was unintentionally leaked into benreys code and is therefore, not an actual part of the game. This also causes benrey to experience change in identity, like becoming forzen, which drives him insane due to the development of the AIs sentience. The final nail in the coffin was the resonance cascade, a scene that was meant for only the player to comprehend. This ends up blasting benreys code with the entire source code, giving him access to even more than Dr Coomer.

What an absolute ride that series was. There wasn't a single moment that wasn't great. I look forward to what craziness they make for Half Life 2 VR since they said they're definitely doing it

I just finished watching all the videos and I gotta say Benrey is probably the most well unintentionally written person I have ever seen , like his goals were normal and pure but Gordon rolls up without his passport. Benrey was only doing his job , he just wanted to play Heavenly swords with his friend , maybe now he'll finally get his chance.

Black Mesa, but in this timeline the G-man recruited his own son and best employees to fight alongside Freeman to Hunt Down the Benrey, a rogue member of his race ruining the canon timeline. Yes, I loved this series.

realistically, the player has already seen these events time and time again. benrey lives a boring life, and his player plays a boring game. so how better to entertain himself and his player, and everyone involved, than by "nudging" events in favor of giving them all self-awareness? the idea of a "passport" is bullshit no matter what, but the word "passport" created an *_error_* in the system which the AI had to react to beyond its ken. what the hell does "passport" mean? doesn't he mean "company ID"? the game needed to settle for creating a MASSIVE inconsistency within itself. and this triggered events that resulted in the AI becoming self aware- dr. coomer realizing that "there's nothing there", bubby's first death, and tommy's very late awareness of these events. all of the self-aware AI received passports. this bolstered benrey's power dramatically by making him an official part of the game. the passports were his only anchor to the world once the game tried to rectify the error which was benrey. gordon destroyed them. without the passports, there was nothing connecting him to the rest of the game- he was just an error. a bug. a mistake in the coding which the antivirus (forbidden science) could easily rectify.

I love how this was made after the stream and it fits so well that Wayne edited it into the battle sequence. This community is awesome.

In 10 years from now, I will watch the live stream footage again, and have the biggest nostalgia hit. This series has been the light in the dark tunnel that is 2020. I know some people have had such hardships this year, and some might have completely lost hope. But with things like this, things that give us joy, it shows us we can survive 2020, and any other hardships that come our way. So if anyone who feels like they can create something as good as the half life AI series, or maybe even better, that is reading this, go for it. Make things better, or at least make people feel better. Every little bit helps. We can do this.

I absolutely nut over late 2000s DS soundfonts like this, It really takes me back to my childhood of sitting in car rides playing games like Spore Hero Arena and PvZ on my cyan DSi. Excellent job my com padre and i hope you aspire to make more content like this.

this sounds genuinely unsettling in the beginning, what if the slower parts are just what Benrey hears 24/7 and hes gone into a godlike state of rage and insanity from Gordon not having his passport

I really hope that if Wayne decides on continuing this series into Half-Life 2, in any way shape or form that the characters we've grown to love will return like Dr. Coomer, Bubby, Tommy and even Benrey if he comes back from the dead.

I cannot express how amazing and unique of a song this is. its rare when you find people making music that actually slaps because of how unique and different it is. now im no music techy but I just love the way it starts off slow, kicks off fast, slows down again, kicks back up, its AMAZING. and that ending instrument where it sort of just fades out is phenomenal. it does a great service being a part of the actual show but you cant appreciate it enough unless you listen to the whole thing! great work, you've got real talent!!
