Carol and Alan are my favorite duo on this show. I have also noticed how well manners were back then. People stood when someone else came in the room. I’ve never seen that before!
Whoever the person(s) are showing these Password Game Shows Episodes,Thank You for taking the time to not only put them on here for others to see and enjoy, but for also fulling showing the complete dates. The complete dates help to watch these episodes in the order they originally aired.Again,Thank You.
First I'll say here that this is one of my favorite episodes of password that I can remember (and who else has been binge watching these on RU-vid like me over the past week!) Next I'll say that in the lightning round two clues in particular were genius on the part of Carol Burnett: " don't" for "do" (DEW) and Gibraltar for rock
This the era when TV game shows had unparralled class! The hosts, the panelists, the "stars" and the contestants were intelligent, polite, courtly and a pleasure to watch!
Loved these games pairing Carol and Alan King as the best in comedy, fun, sportsmanship, and enjoyment for all concerned! I hope there may be another episode having them. 😂😆🤣🤣🤣🥰
John Koskinen is an American businessman and government official of Finnish descent. He is now 81 years old. He served under President Obama and that later one...
Easy as a "Password armchair quarterback" but for "Pad" after "Launching," I might have said "Platform" (of course if I were actually there back when this was taped, I would've only been three years old, so I wouldn't have known the word platform yet :-)
@@Dharmon1 Oh heck, really? Now I have to find that episode again! It was an amazing exchange. Wasn't the contestant a psychology student or something like that too? Ha!
8:10 watch my eyes and the clue speaker laughs while saying banjo. That's so funny. Normally the announcers are invisible and professional, but this one started laughing.
Interesting side note on that first boy on this episode. I did a google search for the name 'John Koskinen" and password and I think he is this man: www.wikiwand.com/en/John_Koskinen This person lived in Ashland, KY, like mentioned. If it is him, he went on to become the 48th Commissioner of the IRS (from 12-23-13 until 11-12-17). If this is the correct person, despite the fact he looks 12 here, he was actually 24 at the time this aired. Anyways, if this is the correct person, he is still alive (as of September 22, 2019) and is currently 80 years old.
Can you please find/post any of the episodes Lloyd Bridges was on in, I believe, 1966? My mum was his partner in one of his shows, and I've been looking for it for years, and it would mean the world to me -- and to her! -- to see it. Thanks for any help you can provide!
If this helps any, Lloyd Bridges was only on the show during on week of appearances. These aired March 7-11 1966 and the other celebrity was Florence Henderson. I also did a search just now and was unable to find any clip of the time Lloyd Bridges was on. I did this search on 09-22-19.
That's what I just said! He looks 12...is married...and is clearly still having a voice change. Hard to think that same "boy" is now in his 70's...assuming he is still living.
Ok...that John dude in the beginning is married? That boy looks like he is 12 and still going through puberty! Heck...his voice is still cracking! lol Hard to imagine that same boy, today, if he was still alive would be in his 70's.
I think even if the first clue (for "Mint") Carol might have made an "O" with her lips and breathed in that cool air kind of way… And said, maybe "Pepper……" And then sort of smacking the mouth/lips a little bit and breathing in with that cool air vibe.
I think from watching this episode, and others when she was on, that Carroll Burnett would have been a pretty fair game show host. She does a very good job remembering and pronouncing the names of contestants. Her only drawback is she would be too "bouncey" to host a game show. I wonder if she ever had a skit on her show that depicted an overly enthusiastic game show host.
If I had to guess, the special prize was probably going to be an actual ham in honor of her hilarious response to "me" which I think she thought he said "meat." lol
Someone made the same comment on another show, you don't see it unless you really look, but quite a few celebrities smoked on this show. I saw Gary Moore when he paired with Carroll and Peter Lawford. And that was from watching about a dozen shows. What is more interesting is the clothing worn by contestants, especially on the night time shows....borders on formal.
10:16 I've watched so much What's My Line recently that I was genuinely expecting to hear "Arlene Francis", hahaha 21:03 So *that's* where the legendary "Me" "Ham" exchange is from!!
Alan's a great guy but I've gotten waaaay sick of his " watch the eyes". It was funny the first time he said it episodes ago but only because the first word that followed happened to be stare. It wasn't funny the 2nd time, the 7th time or the 83rd time. I could also do without his smoking while playing.
Wow, the nicotine addict cannot even get through a twenty minute game show segment without lighting up a smoke in such close quarters with others; how rude, and unhealthy. The cigarette waring labels had already been on the packs for years by 1964.
@@GiftSparks I know; all my relatives smoked and as a child, even in the car on long trips. I had lung/respiratory issues since birth and if I coughed, gagged or complained that I was having trouble breathing about the smoke in the closed car, I would be severely punished for being disrespectful.
@@safepethaven I am so sorry. It's so sad that people can't look beyond their stupid addictions for the needs of a CHILD. My father used to smoke at the dinner table all the time. When I would go to his office-- EVERYONE was smoking. It was just the thing to do.
@@GiftSparks Yes, and even sadly well after the warnings placed on the packs after years of undeniable proof of harm and death. An addixt is an addict is an addict. And why I never started anything that would require "kicking" later on. Plus I never had the $ to spend or waste.
@@safepethaven Exactly.. This is a question that I tell young people to ask themselves-- "How will this make my life better?" It is a simple question- but few people ask themselves it before engaging in potentially harmful behavior. I never smoked or did drugs, because it would not make my life better. That being said, I do have drink every so often, but only in a social occasion. With the pandemic, I haven't had a drink in MONTHS.
