@@gingerbaker4390 Yes, google him. He had a very interesting life. From England and came here before WW II. Became a big child star in Hollywood and then as an adult became a supporting actor in a lot of big movies. BFF’s with Elizabeth Taylor.
Roddy still looks like he could walk Lassie home. By this stage he still looked like the child actor that he once was. Sadly, he is no longer with us passing at age 70 in 1998.
I have loved Elizabeth Ashley ever since seeing her in "When Michael Calls" and "A Fire in the Sky". And Roddy McDowall is adorable and good in a Night Gallery episode.
My second favorite Game Show after "WHAT'S MY LINE" (1950-1967). Always a pleasure to see one of my favorite actors Roddy McDowall on the "telly", as the Brits say.
Sometimes when Allen jumps out and says loudly "roughly a form of the word!!" it scares me; I know it had to when he was live right in the contestants' faces...
If I were giving the clues for loafer I'd hope my opponent would say 👞 so that I could follow up with penny. I like how Roddy followed up with child after the clue angry. I 💘 how it can also help your opponent if your partner can't come up with the answer after a great clue
Clueless what 'Vecuvius" was . Total embarrassment in the lightning round. Like a trooper though, as soon as the round ended, she wasted no time getting off camera.
Some words are just second clue words. The later shows with the option to pass, makes and better game. plus all the other changes. This is a really good "TV time" for kids, to play with their parents.
I'm not sure, but I think they may have had Glad bags (sandwich, trash etc.) back then - I do remember seeing early commercials with glad sandwich bags when I was a kid. So I'm wondering if "Bags" could have worked as a clue for "Glad" - maybe a long shot, but…
If they only had a time machine to go 29 years into the future, for "Ace" said with a lot of flourish (like Jim Carrey might have done it) you could have given the clue "Ventura!" :-)
I've binged watched Password for the last month, usually watching several episodes a day. But the reuse of so many of the same words is rather tiresome. What what?
Game shows had real class the guests were well manored an the contestants dressed proper not like today they let the constants come out in ripped distressed jeans. . ..smh. Come on
Allen Ludden is not being sexist or chauvinistic in not asking what a woman does for a living. At that time most women were either married or if they did have a job, many quit their jobs after marriage. Yes, it might have been nice to ask every woman what they did for a living but the audience might have become quite bored with hardly hearing that a single woman had a job or a married woman had an additional job either inside or outside the home. Or the audience might have wondered, "why is the host even asking that question?".
Why when everything was always done so much better back then? They probably didn't even have germs or viruses back then. Everything then was so proper and better than today, wasn't it? lol
