When that flight attendant lady said "coffee, tea or me" Forsythe had the strangest look on his face as he looked at Allen Ludden, he was shocked !!! So was Barbara Rush, who said "wow" so funny (I'll admit it was a odd thing to say, especially during the 1960's !!!)

What a delight it is, especially after the previous week's episodes, to see the game played well by the celebrities. The clues are crisp and accurate. It's a great contrast with a celebrity who thinks that "Santa Monica" is one word. Only on more difficult words or after a word had been played down did they take some time to come up with a clue word. And not once did Allen have to give a warning about gestures. Based on the first day of play, it would appear that Allen was spot on when he predicted after only one word was played that it would be a very good week with the game played well which was the way he liked it.

A few comments on how handsome John Forsythe was. I'm sure many were disappointed that his face never appeared on camera on "Charlie's Angels". But apparently he was a last minute replacement for the original choice for the role when it was discovered that the original actor had a drinking problem. Forsythe did it without ever appearing on set. His voice was recorded elsewhere and dubbed in. It was done that way because his salary demands were too high if he had appeared on camera and gave dialogue that way. During interviews in later years, he was disdainful of the show, calling it a "potboiler" made on the cheap and appealing to a baser level.

Wasn't it John Forsythe who played the dad on the half hour TV show in the late 1960's called To Rome With Love?He was a college professor and a widower, and had 2 or 3 daughters.He was teaching at a college in Rome, Italy.I watched that show when new, but it was never on TV after it was cancelled.I think it was on TV just one season.It used to be on you tube, could still be.That sgt.was funny.I wonder if he went to Nam.Alot of the audience shown were elderly people, and during 1966, at that.They'd all be gone now.
@loissimmons6558
@loissimmons6558 5 лет назад
+Michelle Post "To Rome With Love" was on for two seasons, 1969-71. John played the part of Michael Endicott, a teacher at the American Overseas School. Widowed, he had three daughters: Alison (Joyce Menges), Penny (Susan Neher) and Mary Jane (Melanie Fullerton). None of the girls who played his daughters went on to have a career in show business. Susan Neher perhaps came the closest as she played Joanie Cunningham in the episode of "Love American Style" that spawned "Happy Days". But Erin Moran was cast in the role when it became a TV series. (Ironically the father in "Happy Days" was played by Tom Bosley. Bosley was also the last name of the assistant to never-seen John Forsythe's character on "Charlie's Angels". It was an inside joke and the name was deliberate because actor David Doyle who played John Bosley was often mistaken in the business for Tom Bosley.) In the first season, funny character actress Kay Medford plays John's sister (Aunt Harriet) who goes to Rome with John and the girls. She is written out of the show in the second season. Added to the cast was Walter Brennan who plays (surprise, surprise) Grandpa. the father of John's late wife. Part of the same universe as "My Three Sons" and "Family Affair", (which all dealt with men in a single father role of some sort), there were crossover episodes where characters from the other shows appeared on "To Rome With Love". But they could never find a formula that worked as well as it did with the other two shows. "Family Affair" lasted five seasons and "My Three Sons" lasted twelve.
