When Lupa said this was Slice of Life, something literally CLICKED in my head. This is exactly like a Slice of Life anime. That's why it's so damn entertaining

Matty Matheson (Fak) is definitely one of my favorite parts of this season, he provides some much-needed comedic relief and does it in a way that feels very genuine

The thing about Michelin stars that makes them stressful is once you are awarded one, two, or three, you now have to defend that ranking every year going forward. It would be like if your favorite team just won a championship and then the next year, because they didn’t make the playoffs, that shit they won last year gets taken away too. So a lot of chefs get addicted to the hunt, trying new things, pushing their creativity to the limit. But when they hit three stars they realize now all they can ever do is defend. There’s nowhere else to go but down. The pressure that creates has affected many chefs, with some even literally dying over it. Carmy exemplifies that pressure that Syd doesn’t realize yet. Marco Pierre White, who was the first British chef to achieve three stars and also the youngest for a while, said that you can get to two stars alone on food. But for that third star, absolutely everything, the food, service, decor, has to be perfectly executed every time.

For me the most amazing thing in this episode was that he gave his number to the fridge guy so that when he's giving his number to claire you know immediatly that he gave her a wrong number. Amazing

A lot of those dishes that you called 'mid' and lacking seasoning -- in fact, have a ton of seasoning. The 'fancy' places actually spend hours/days infusing sauces, creams, and broths with a ton of seasoning. You just can't see that seasoning on a photo. And that's what makes these places so special and expensive sometimes. The hard part is giving food a lot of flavor while making it look clean, fresh, simple, and beautiful looking.

I just think Carmy is so unserious for "there's no way you know the name, we never told anyone" bro your name is Carmen BERZATTO and your entire family calls each other Bear. She could have gotten it in one good guess

Michelin stars were created by the Michelin tyres company. Back in the day they started making maps of places to visit and then that evolved into them reviewing the places with 1 or 3 Michelin stars.

My man there’s no 5 stars with Michelin there’s 3 max and the flavour of the food isn’t even the main criteria. It’s based on flavour, ingredient quality, techniques used, their consistency in producing the same dish each time and weirdly the personality of the chef. It’s why you can find Michelin rated restaurants that look really fancy with mid food as well as Michelin rated pubs with great food. Honestly some of the better ones are the ones with lower stars but even then their food can suck when compared to a low class greasy spoon or bbq spot that serves crazy good food.

Small detail but if you went back to the beginning of the episode, you would've realized that Carmy intentionally gave her the wrong number, which is what I realized on my first watch. Its a small detail but important because it sets up how Carmy gets in the way of his own happiness, which is pretty sad to watch.

I think the reason Carmie keeps the jeans in the oven is because they are basically liquid assets. They are worth hundreds, and/or thousands each. The reason why they're in the oven is to preserve the quality of the denim, and because if anyone tries to steal them, they would never think to check the stove for them.

If there's one thing about this show that kinda disappoints me a little, it's Ebra's arc, or lack thereof. I won't say much, but I think there's a missed opportunity for his character this season. I don't know if anyone feels the same, but that's just how I interpreted it. This season is still gas regardless.

If you guys every get a chance to try Michelin star level food, I promise you will be blown away by the flavors and textures.

Some subtle set-up/payoff in this episode- Carmy's phone number. They make it a point about telling us his number (Carmy leaves a voicemail for the fridge guy). Seems like an unimportant detail, until we meet Claire who askes for it. But he gives he the wrong number instead, even though they vibed. LGoes back to what he was telling Sydeny about the stars- you xan't xare about ANYTHING else, if this is something you want. This show is a masterclass of the setup and payoff.
