My husband is from Calabria and when I had a cold he made this for me. I tell you, that soup made me feel so much better. I believe it could even grow back a limb. 😊
My daughter is ill and said she wished she could have some pastina, but I’d never heard of it. So, I chose your recipe and not only did she love it, but I did too. So delicious!
Grew up on pastina (and stracciatella). I've made it for friends and it sounds deceptively boring but it's not, it's just peaceful. It's comfort in a bowl. Pro tip: after your parmigiana rind is done providing flavor to your soup (or sauce, as we also use it), chef's perk is getting to eat the warm, soft, extra flavored rind. I swear, one of my favorite things to eat on earth is a chunk of parmigiana rind that's taken a long bath in some sugo. Heaven.
My husband was put on the Mediterranean diet by his cardiologist a while ago. I found your channel and it has literally changed his life!! There are SO many options for him that are healthy AND delicious. I’m making this soup next!!!! Thank you so much! Blessings to you!
My Sicilian grandma and great grandma made something similar. I'd never heard the word pastina until the internet. It was chicken stock, Acini di pepe. After it was mostly cooked, we drizzled scrambled egg in and topped with a lot of parmesan cheese. My mom made it, and I made it for my kids.
Cant wait to make this soon for me can i use vegetable broth i never had pastina soup before perfect for raining days in Singapore and after office meals
Hello from Indonesia. Thank you for your superfriendly way of explaining this penicillin Italian soup. I'd like to cook it for my grandchildren to boost their good health. I love Italy and its romantic culture.
I've been on a soup kick lately, so this recipe will definitely be added to the rotation to try! Thank you, Suzy! Please. keep these "immunity boosting" recipes coming! 🤗❤️
When I was a child (many decades ago) my mother would cook the star-shaped pastina as a hot breakfast cereal with a little milk and a sprinkle of sugar! And she was of German descent! This soup looks so delicious, I need to try it, but I haven't seen pastina in the grocery stores. I have found orzo and many other shapes, but no pastina! Thanks!
I was married to an Italian for 17 years. His mother made acene de pepe. She fed it to the babies too bc it’s perfect of little ones with few teeth or no teeth. She added different things to it. Acene de pepe looks just like pastina.
Looks wholesome and yummy, but I need more heartiness without bread. I have a big appetite. Lol. I love watching you cook, and I pick up lots of tips no matter what. Ty!!
I made this me and my mom just ate it and she said it was good she might be bias because she’s my mom but 🤷♀️ it was good soup trust oh and me and my whole family has been sick for about a week hoping this helps also I def added way to much pasta so I recommend just a cup so just in case you over add like I do
Very nice. I'm a novice at best. How long do you boil the hard vegetables before simmering them? And can I use an immersion blender in lieu of a food processor which I don't have? Thank you very much.
Q Look for it in the Mexican section of the grocery store. They mostly come in 7 oz packets prices range from $0.24 to $0.49 each. ALDI is cheapest! Q ❤
I am not familiar with Parmesan rind. Where do you find this? I’ve seen Parmesan cheese but what does the rind look like? Walmart is the biggest food store I’m mostly at.
I grew up on this soup however Pastina is no longer manufactured from what I understand. I can't find it in stores or online. Can anyone tell me where you are finding it?
Because you don’t know enough of the culture to believe that Nona would have had a blender. It’s the techniques not the tools and modern packets that we use.
